BRIGHTON & HOVE BUSES
Brighton & Hove Services 21 and 21A
Marina – Whitehawk – Manor Hill - Queens Park – London Road Shops - City Centre – Hove – Hove Station – Goldstone Valley
Evening and Sunday services are currently funded by Brighton & Hove City Council.
At the March council meeting budget savings were agreed which meant the withdrawal of funding for evening and Sunday services on these routes from 30 November 2015. However Brighton & Hove Buses agreed to continue operation of the Sunday service, and most of the evening service, on a commercial basis.
As a result most of services 21 and 21A will continue as normal, but from 30 November there will be a reduced late evening service to Goldstone Valley. Also, late evening journeys to and from Brighton Marina will no longer serve Whitehawk north of the Bus Garage: instead they will run direct between Manor Hill and Brighton Marina.
Monday to Saturday Evening Services from 30 November:
Goldstone Valley section: late evening departures from Churchill Square to Goldstone Valley will be at 19.10, 19.40, 20.10 and 22.59. This means a reduction in mid-evening journeys, with the last bus running 55 minutes earlier than at present. From Goldstone Valley departures to the city centre and Marina will be at 19.12, 19.42, 20.12, 20.42, with a final journey to Hove George Street only at 23.24.
City Centre - Marina section: from 21.00 the service will reduce from half-hourly to hourly, with the last bus from Churchill Square to Marina leaving at 23.02 (37 minutes earlier than now). From Marina, late evening departures will be at 01 and 31 minutes past the hour until 21.31, with the last bus running at 22.31 (47 minutes earlier than now).
From 30 November the last bus from Whitehawk (Swanborough Drive) to Marina will be at 20.32 and the last bus from Marina via north Whitehawk will be at 21.01. After these times buses will run direct between Marina and Manor Hill: Wilson Avenue will not be served. Passengers travelling between Marina andnorth Whitehawk will need to change from service 21 to service 1 at Whitehawk Bus Garage.
Brighton & Hove Service 72
Whitehawk – Longhill School
Service 72 is funded by Brighton & Hove City Council.
Morning journeys will run 4 minutes earlier than at present, to allow for the effects of traffic at Downs Hotel.

COMPASS TRAVEL
Compass Services 37/37A
Meadowview – Coombe Road – Lewes Road – London Road Shops –Brighton Station – City Centre – Kemp Town Shops – Bristol Estate
Evening journeys are currently funded by Brighton & Hove City Council
Compass Travel, which took over the number 37 service to Meadowview and Bristol Estate in April, approached the council to find ways of continuing the commercial service after it became clear it was losing money and in danger of having to be substantially cut from 13 September.
As a result the council – which already funds evening services on this route – will provide additional temporary funding to enable service 37 to keep operating until the end of March next year. The council has worked with Compass Travel to agree some changes to the timetable from 13 September, which will ensure a daytime, evening and Sunday service can be provided.
Longer term, service 37 will now be part of the council’s review of all of its supported bus services (including the 37B), with decisions being made on them next year.
This is a summary of the changes from 13 September:
Monday to Friday Morning Peak: Journeys from Bristol Estate at 06.15 and 06.45 will be replaced with one journey at 06.30.
Weekday Evenings: Late evening frequency will reduce to every 75 minutes. Buses will leave Meadowview at 19.40, 20.55, 22.10 and 23.25.
Buses will leave Bristol Estate at 19.00, 20.15, 21.30 and 22.45.
The last bus from Brighton Station to Meadowview will leave at 23.05.
The last bus from Brighton Station to Bristol Estate will leave at 23.43.
Sundays: Sunday frequency will reduce from half-hourly to hourly, with buses leaving on the hour from Bristol Estate (from 09.00) and at 20 minutes past the hour from Meadowview (from 08.20). Evening buses will run at the same times as on weekdays (please see above), except that the last bus will leave Meadowview at 22.10 on Sundays and the last bus from Brighton Station to Bristol Estate will run at 22.28 on Sundays.
Route: From London Road Shops towards Brighton Station all service 37 journeys will run via Whitecross Street, Trafalgar Street and Frederick Place (instead of Fleet Street, New England Street, New England Road, Seven Dials and Buckingham Place).
Service 37B will continue to provide a service via Fleet Street, New England Street, New England Road, Seven Dials and Buckingham Place and the 37B timetable remains unchanged. Service 37B is a supported bus service and the contract runs until September next year.
