ANNUAL AWARDS

Executive of the Year

Awarded to the chief staff person of a Chamber of Commerce / Board of Trade for outstanding performance.

Three awards are offered to Chambers of Commerce / Boards of Trade based on the following categories:

§  less than 500 members

§  500-999 members

§  1000+ members

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

1.  Must be the chief staff person for a Chamber of Commerce / Board of Trade in Canada

2.  Must have worked at the same Chamber of Commerce / Board of Trade for at least three consecutive years

3.  Must be a member of CCEC

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA AND CONSIDERATIONS:

§  Outstanding performance

§  Chamber membership growth

§  Chamber’s financial status

§  Candidate’s contributions to the Chamber / Board profession.

§  Candidate’s contribution during the past fiscal year to the success of their Chamber of Commerce / Board of Trade.

SUBMISSIONS:

The nomination package should include:

§  An introductory paragraph with a brief history of the nominee’s work with the Chamber

§  A presentation that demonstrates what the individual has done in the most recent fiscal year that makes him/her an excellent candidate for the award, to include the following:

1.  Chamber Management (30 points) – complete form on page 3 and include in nomination package and include annual audited financial statements for the most recent two fiscal years.

a.  Detail the membership activity within the candidate’s Chamber / Board of Trade for the most recently completed fiscal year and the preceding year – demonstrating market penetration, membership growth and retention.

b.  Describe the candidate’s contribution to the staff and volunteer team including their ability to motivate the team, and to mentor / coach staff and volunteers to achieve outstanding results.

2.  Excellence in field (20 points)

a.  Outline the contributions the candidate has made to the Chamber / Board profession through service to the provincial, national or international Chamber network.

b.  Indicate if the Chamber is accredited

c.  Detail any previous awards or recognitions received by the Chamber during the candidate’s tenure as manager, or individually by the candidate.

3.  Contribution & Innovation (40 points)

Document the candidate’s contribution to their Chamber or Board of Trade over the past year in the following categories:

a.  New program development

b.  Community leadership

c.  Partnerships

d.  Advocacy

e.  Membership growth

f.  Financial success

g.  Marketing / communication program

h.  Innovation

i.  Overcoming unique challenges

j.  Other

Please be specific about how the candidate contributed to the results and indicate positive changes over the previous year.

4.  Other (10 points)

§  Three letters of reference (from Board of Directors, community, and provincial or national Chamber)

§  Overall submission

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: July 15th

The written submission must not exceed 10 pages in a 12 point font (excluding reference letters and financial statements). No other supporting materials are required - judging will be based on the aforementioned materials only.

Only the name of the award recipients will be disclosed at the CCEC Annual Conference Awards Banquet. All other applications will remain confidential. NO AWARD RECIPIENT NEED BE DECLARED IN ANY GIVEN YEAR.
