Chair and Member appointment extended on the Scottish Futures Trust Board.
The Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Constitution today announced the extension of the appointment of Sir Angus Grossart as Chair and Graeme Bisset as member to the Scottish Futures Trust Board.

SFT was established in 2008 to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructure investment in Scotland by working collaboratively with public bodies & industry, challenging conventional processes and devising pioneering, commercially attractive programmes which lead to better value-for-money and ultimately improved public services. SFT’s impact ranges from developing future digital options to affordable housing. In 2014-15 alone, SFT achieved an estimated £135 million of public value, including long-term employment opportunities. Added to the five previous years, SFT has achieved a cumulative total of £777.7 million of savings and benefits.
Sir Angus Grossart, Chairman of Scottish Futures Trust, was educated at Glasgow University and practiced at the Scottish Bar. He is a Queen’s Counsel. He is Chairman of Edinburgh based Noble Grossart, the merchant bank which he jointly founded in 1969.
Sir Angus has had many interests in the Scottish public and cultural world having held appointments including as a former Chair of both the National Galleries and the National Museums. Sir Angus is Chairman of Scotland International, the Edinburgh International Cultural Summit and the Burrell Renaissance.
His other positions have included: Vice Chairman of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Vice Chairman of the National Heritage Memorial Fund and Chairman of the Heritage Lottery Fund in Scotland.
Sir Angus Grossart does not hold any other public appointments.
Graeme Bissettis an experienced independent Non-Executive Director, having experience with listed and private companies, the charity sector and the public sector. Graeme’s current appointments include Chairman of McFarlane Group Plc, Non-Executive Director of Smart Metering Systems Plc, Non-Executive Director at Anderson Strathern LLP, Chairman at ‘Children 1st’ and a Member of Court at the University of Glasgow.
Sir Angus Grossart’s Chair extension will be for 3 months, running from 30 September 2016 to the 31 December 2016. Graeme Bissett’s Member extension will be for 3 months, running from 1 January to the 31 March 2017.
These extensions will remain part time with the Chair earning a maximum annual remuneration of £18,432 for a time commitment of 3 days per month. Sir Angus will redirect his fee to support the National Museums Scotland.The Member extension will earn a maximum remuneration of £7,800 per annum for a time commitment of 2 days per month.
This appointment is regulated by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland.
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. Neither Sir Angus Grossart nor Angus Bissett has declared any political activity in the last 5 years.
The Public Appointments Portal has completed advertising for the post of Chair on 10 October 2016. It is anticipated that the post of Board member will be advertised for four weeks from 24 November
