CFESTechnology Policy

To prepare students for an increasingly technological society, Creekside Forest Elementaryis allowing the use of (eReaders) for instructional purposes in the classroom for grades 3--6. Students will bepermittedto useeReader devices such as:

  • Kindle, iPad (no internet access), Nook, Sony Reader, etc.

Students may find it beneficial or may be encouraged to use eReader devices to do the following:

  • Read
  • Use Calendars/Organizers/to-do lists

In addition to the above list, students may also be permitted to use an eReader before school, after school, and at lunch/recess or other such unstructured times at the teacher’s discretion.

It is the parent’s responsibility to be aware of the content on his/her child’s eReader. Students will be held accountable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct if any violation occurs.

If a student is not using the device appropriately and/or in accordance with the approved purposes listed above,he/she may be subject to withdrawal of privileges and/or other disciplinary action. When students are not using the eReader device for approved instructional purposes, all devices must be turned off during the instructional day(8:40—3:40). Students are strictly prohibited from the following activities while in possession of an eReader device:

  • Taking, viewing and/or sharing of pictures
  • Recording, viewing and or sharing of video
  • Recording and/or sharing of audio
  • Using Earbud Headphones
  • Gaming
  • Charging the battery of the eReader
  • Downloading
  • Using Wi-Fi

Any disciplinary action will be in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.

In accordance with the Tomball Independent School District Student Code of Conduct, students are permitted to possess personal mobile telephones. However, these devices must remain turned off during the instructional day (and left in their backpack or locker).

Disclaimer:

  • The District will not be responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen electronic device.
  • In addition, the District will not be held responsible for the content held on any personal electronic device brought to school by a student.
