Enhanced Appearance and Warranties Renew CertainTeed’s LandmarkTM Series Shingles
CertainTeed Corporation’s Roofing Products Group introduces its newly redesigned and visually enhanced LandmarkTM Series asphalt roofing shingles. CertainTeed has taken its highly popular line of laminated shingles, softened the shadow lines, added new colors, upgraded the warranty terms and is manufacturing and distributing the product nationwide for the very first time.
“The name stays the same, but the look is truly extraordinary,” says Marcia Hannah, Vice President of Marketing for CertainTeed’s Roofing Products Group. “With the new Landmark, we have created a wider, depth-enhancing shadow line that features the predominant color of the shingle. That, coupled with the traditional Landmark flared cut on the dragon’s tooth portion of the shingle, makes for a softer, yet striking visual and dimensional statement.”
In addition to visual enhancements, Landmark’s warranties have also been improved. Landmark 25 has been upgraded to a 30-year product with improved wind warranty coverage of 70 miles per hour (mph). Landmark 30 has been upgraded to a 40-year product with enhanced wind

warranty coverage of up to 80 mph and Landmark 40 has been upgraded to a 50-year product with 90 mile per hour wind warranty coverage.
This new product was developed after extensive consumer and trade research and the result is a more universally appealing design and better warranty protection. “With laminated shingles being the fastest growing and most competitive segment of the roofing industry, we wanted to renew the Landmark line to reflect changes in consumer tastes,” says Hannah.
Landmark is available nationwide in eight core colors: Burnt Sienna, Colonial Slate, Driftwood, Heather Blend, Hunter Green, Moire Black, Resawn Shake and Weathered Wood. Additional colors are available based on regional preferences. Algae-resistant versions are also available in selected areas.
Landmark is available with a 30-, 40-, or 50 -year limited transferable warranty, including 5-year SureStartTM protection, which offers full replacement coverage in the unlikely event a manufacturing defect occurs in the early years following application. Landmark also carries a UL Class A fire rating and is certified by Underwriters Laboratories to meet ASTM D3462—the roofing industry’s tough shingle performance standard required by many building codes throughout the United States.
In addition, CertainTeed has added a new member to the Landmark family. What used to be known as Ambassador Shake has been redesigned, utilizing a flared dragonstooth cut, new color blends and a new name—LandmarkTM TL. Landmark TL carries a lifetime, limited transferable warranty, including 10 years of SureStartTM coverage, a UL Class A fire rating, is UL Certified to meet ASTM D3462, and is available in algae-resistant versions in most parts of the country.
