INTRODUCTIONS
For all the new members, we explained the structure of Central Students Committee,
the formation, the School Board organization, our mission statement, our budget,
etc. Since this was the first meeting of the 2005-2006 school year, the first part of
the meeting was dedicated to explaining all the details of how a consultative
group functions.
ELECTIONS
The Executive for the 05-06 school year was elected:
Chair: Robert Lynch (M.H.S)
Vice-Chair: Hannah Quinn (Saint-Thomas H.S)
Secretary: Adria Midea (Beurling Academy)
Treasurer: Nicola Smith (Westwood)
FIRST CLASS & WEBSITE
New and existing members alike were informed on how to download and set-up the FirstClass desktop client and use some of the major functions within, such as Instant-Messaging, the directory, email, conferences etc. Representatives were also given a tour of the CSC website, [ http://csc.lbpsb.qc.ca ].
ECA BAN & WALKOUTS
The committee discussed how the ban on all extra-curricular activities was affecting the students & faculty at their schools. We learned that a major problem that had occurred at previous walkouts was that the majority of students just saw it as a “free day”, instead of an opportunity to support a cause.
Major School Change
The CSC discussed the process and procedures of the Major School Change, with all members, and new members were given an overview of the process.
Date of next meeting: October 22, 2005
Respectfully submitted,
Robert Lynch
Chairperson
Central Students’ Committee
