JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Educational Consultant

Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum 5 yearsteaching experience in the area of literacy, mathand/or special education, Master’s Degree and Kentucky Teaching Credentials required.

Experience as a presenter or trainer of adults

Knowledge of and experience with literacy/math components, content, and instructional strategies

Knowledge of and experience with effective instructional/learning strategies for at-risk students, particularly students with disabilities

Knowledge of Kentucky Academic Standards related to math/literacy and the performance of students with disabilities

Knowledge of federal and state regulation requirements related to students with disabilities

  • Knowledge of educational and assistive technology
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with districts in bridging the gap from assessment, curriculum, and instructional practices in the area of special education.

Reports: CKEC Director of Exceptional Educational Services

Responsibilities:

  1. Work with Directors of Special Education, School Administrators, and teachers in the 22member districts
  2. Develop and coordinate consultation, technical assistance, and job-embedded professional development activities for special education and regular teachers, classroom assistants, and administrators.
  3. Work collaboratively with staff to implement instructional initiatives, which will result in improved performance of students with disabilities and other at-risk groups of students.
  4. Provide professional development on instructional/learning strategies and interventions including collecting ongoing data on the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions.
  1. Provide consultation and instructional coaching to teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators.
  1. Work collaboratively with a various professional groups (i.e. co-op network, CKEC staff, state workgroups)
  2. Assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the CKEC Exceptional Education Director
  3. On site coaching, training, and consultation within the 22 CKEC member districts

Job Goal:To provide leadership in improving the implementation of instructional initiatives across the CKEC region

Annual Contract:Full-time employment, 210 days

Compensation: Salary and contracted days to be established by the CEO, CKEC Exceptional Education

Director, and Board of Directors.Fringe benefits comparable to a school district level position

Terms of Employment:Salary and contracted days to be established by the CEO, CKEC Exceptional Education

Director, and Board of Directors.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Policy/Procedures developed by

the CKEboard.
