Cavan Primary School’s Cross Country Athletics Event 2017

The County Cavan Athletics Board is delighted to announce the 2017 Schools Cross Country Championships, at Killinkere Leisure Complex, Cavan on Wednesday 18th October 2017 from 11.00am.
Rules Of Competition:
This year’s event comprises three age categories:
Junior Boys and Girls (born 2008/2009) 600m.
Intermediate Boys and Girls (born 2007/2006) 800m.
Senior Boys and Girls (born 2005/2004) 1,000m.
Prizes will be awarded to the first twelve finishers in each event. In addition, team awards will be presented to the first three teams (four athletes to score) in each school category in each race.
This year there will be four School categories:
Category 1 schools Small School : 1 – 100 pupil enrolment
Category 2 schools Medium School : 101 – 130 pupil enrolment
Category 3 schools Large School : 131 – 200 pupil enrolment
Category 4 schools Super School : 201 + pupils
Entry fee €2 per athlete.
*Please complete and return entry forms, together with entry fees of €2 per athlete (Payable to Cavan Athletics) by Friday 13th October. Payment accepted on day also.
* Can you also please reply with the number of pupils on the school register in order to assign a correct category for your team.
. *Entry forms can be emailed (preferably) to me at or post to Brian Donohoe Cois Locha Lavagh Kilnaleck Cavan* First race will commence at 11.00am sharp, please allow enough time to park and have your athletes ready to run.

*** Your sticker card scoring system will be given to you the morning of the event. It is essential that stickers are placed in order on the scoring cards to aid scoring on the day.
Schools mustbe pre-entered in order to have a score card .
*** NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED ON THE DAY ***

1. Primary Schools Cross Country Distances:
Junior Boys and Girls (born 2008/2009) 600m.
Intermediate Boys and Girls (born 2007/2006) 800m.
Senior Boys and Girls (born 2005/2004) 1,000m.

3. School Categories will be defined as follows:
Category 1 schools (small)1 - 100 pupils
Category 2 schools (medium) 101 - 130 pupils
Category 3 schools (large) 131 - 200 pupils
Category 4 schools (super)201 plus pupils
However, the pupil numbers in each category may be adjusted depending on the number of entries received in category.
4. Individual medals will be presented to the first 12 athletes in each event in the County Championship Finals (with distinct medals presented to the first three athletes).
5. Teams will comprise of six (6) to run, with four (4) to score. Team medals will be presented to the first three teams, with standard scoring.
6. The Overall school winner in the Schools Cross Country Championship will be presented with the Jim Rice Memorial Cup
