AMTA 2016
CAT Tool Workshop
Call for Proposals
The Association for Machine in the Americas is organizing a CAT tool workshop at its upcoming conference, which will take place in Austin, Texas from October 29 to November 2, 2016. (See the conference website here: http://amtaweb.org/amta-2016-in-austin-tx/ .)
CAT tool providers who incorporate machine translation into their systems are hereby invited to participate in this all-day event, which will likely be held on October 29. Only a limited number of providers will be selected to participate, based on the criteria described below. Each selected provider will be allotted a full hour during which to demonstrate their system to workshop attendees, focussing on its MT features and particularly those intended for post-editing.
In submitting their proposals, CAT tool providers are asked to answer the following questions:
- What MT system(s) – native or third-party – does your CAT tool provide access to? What language pairs are covered by these MT systems?
- Is the user charged a supplementary fee for accessing the MT system, or is this included in the CAT tool licence?
- Is your system cloud-based or can it be installed locally on the user’s premises? If cloud-based, how can the user ensure the privacy of his data?
- Does your system allow users to train their own personal MT engine(s) by uploading a TMX archive?
- Can the user determine if and when an MT proposal is injected into the editor, e.g. by adjusting a threshold on TM matches?
- Does your system provide any special features to facilitate post-editing? If so, what are they?
- Does your system learn from the user’s corrections to the MT output, modifying its models in real time, or must the user wait until the entire system is retrained?
- Does your system offer a post-editing log which calculates the translator’s effort in revising the MT system’s proposals?
- Does your system allow users to impose their terminology on the machine output, i.e. overriding the output generated by the MT system?
- At the workshop, will attendees be given the opportunity to try out the system using their own texts?
Kindly send your proposal, including your answers to the above questions, to Elliott Macklovitch at the following address: Submissions must be received before 27 June 2016. The organizers will inform all those who submit proposals which CAT tools have been selected to participate in the workshop by 8 August 2016
