Provisional Cast On Instructions:

Front of Crochet Chain Back of Crochet Chain Insert Needle in Purl Bumps

Using crochet hook and scrap yarn in a contrasting color, chain enough stitches for the pattern, and then an additional 5 or so.

On one side the stitches form “v”s (Figure 1) while on the other side of the chain the stitches form the purl bumps (Figure 2). Insert the knitting needle into each purl bump in the back of the chain, and pick up enough to accommodate the number of stitches required by the pattern.

Now start knitting according to the instructions by attaching the yarn required by the pattern and knitting with it as per the pattern.

K1inc1: Knit into the front and the back of the same stitch making 2 stitches out of 1 stitch ( an increase of 1 stitch)

M1L: Make 1 left – insert left needle, from front to back, under the horizontal strand between last stitch worked and next stitch on the left needle, forming a loop on the needle. Knit through the back of this loop (an increase of 1 stitch)

M1R: Make 1 Right – Insert left needle, from back to front, under the horizontal strand between last stitch worked and next stitch on left needle, forming a loop on needle. Knit through the front of this loop (an increase of 1 stitch).

K2tog: Knit two stitches together as though they were 1 stitch (a decrease of 1 stitch)

P2tog: Purl two stitches together as though they were 1 stitch (a decrease of 1 stitch)

WT (wrap and turn): Bring the yarn to the front, transfer the next stitch from the left needle to the right needle, turn the work, bring the yarn back between the needles, and transfer that same stitch back to right needle (it is now wrapped). You will now knit in the other direction.
