Its purpose is to provide funding for collaborative, team-based research initiatives undertaken jointly by faculty from the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) and the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIUSOM). Awards will be granted through a competitive review and selection process. Awards may be renewed for a subsequent phase of research provided that research activities under the previous award are successfully completed within the funding period and a meritorious application outlining the new phase of research is submitted for competitive review. Renewal will be contingent on competitive review of the new application for funding.
