Electric carts provide transportation to students with limited mobility between their classes and designated pick-up/drop-off points on inner campus roads/paths. The service is a non-mandated, limited supplemental service contingent on ASI external grant funding. Students must be currently enrolled, registered with SSWD, and approved for cart service by SSWD staff based on disability documentation. The service is provided during the fall and spring semesters, Monday - Thursday, between the hours of 8:30 AM to3:00 PM. There is no cart service during final exam week. In addition, service may end prior to final exam week due to funding limitations. However, exceptions due to significant hardship will be considered on an individual basis.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR CARTRIDERS

  • Seat belts must be used at all times during rides.
  • Smoking is not allowed on electric carts.
  • Since the carts run on a very tight schedule, and multiple students may have scheduled rides during the same pick-up and drop-off times, expect to occasionally be late to your destination. Please inform professors.
  • Be on time and at the agreed upon pick-up point. If the schedule permits, drivers will wait up to a maximum of three minutes before leaving.
  • If you have not been picked up within 10 minutes of your scheduled time, please notify the office.
  • If you are not going to ride the cart on a certain day for any reason, please call the office as soon as possible. Repeated no-shows without notification may result in temporary suspension or loss of service.
  • Rides to classes and labs are first priority. Other rides (such as to dorms, bus stop, parking garages, etc.) are

of low priority and are scheduled after all rides to classes/labs have been completed.

  • Special or non-scheduled rides must be requested,at least 24 hours in advance, by calling SSWD at

(916) 278-6955. These rides are of lower priority and may notbe guaranteed.

  • SSWD does not provide transportation during medical emergencies per campus policy– NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Contact Terry Gomez, Office Manager, at (916) 278-6955 regarding any questions or concerns about the service.
  • For information on other campus transportation services, contactUniversity Parking & Transportation Services.
