Introduction to Seattle Chinese School Curriculum

College, high school language program and career preparation are the goals of the Seattle Chinese School curriculum. All students are required to complete a core curriculum: Mandarin Phonetic symbols, spelling, recognizing the four tones, introduction to basic writing, phrases and sentences, Chinese cultural studies, and speech education. Technology tools are available to support classroom learning. A more detailed summary of school year curriculum is listed on a separate sheet.

Our school offers a variety of Chinese cultural programs to suit every interest. As a supplement to their class learning experiences, students may continue their learning at home through our school’s website’s hyperlink to access well established quality educational programs. In addition, our library also provides good collections of video-audio programs and books that can be accessed by both teachers and parents as tools for home learning process.

All of our students are required to participate in an annual speech contest as well as a writing and reading competency test to demonstrate their language capacity. Graduation class students always demonstrate their competency in reading and writing by giving a short speech at the open graduation ceremony in June.
