Carolyn GilesCarolyn has worked in HR for 20 years and has expanded her experience from the public sector originally to a consultancy providing services to a wide range of sectors.

Carolyn is able to provide a comprehensive HR service to SMEs who don't need a full time HR employee, or to support organisations with HR project support. That support can include advice and consultation for TUPE transfers, consultations with staff due to reorganisations and redundancies, or to support line managers with disciplinary investigations, grievance hearings or managing attendance issues.

Carolyn became a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD in 2008 and supports the local branch with employment events. She prefers the employee relations elements within the HR field, but also delivers training and undertakes recruitment when appropriate.

Carolyn's current clients include GP practices, manufacturing, hospitality, architects, legal firms, social enterprises etc. Carolyn maintains her commercial links via her role as a director of Devon Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Rhodri Davey Rhodri is partner and head of employment at Kitsons LLP. Rhodri wins praise for his thoroughness: "He listens carefully to clients and offers a very clear and direct solution." (Chambers & Partners 2010) and "is very forward-thinking in his approach to disputes" (Chambers & Partners 2011).

Rhodri studied law at Nottingham Trent University and Nottingham Law School before returning to the South West where he trained and qualified with Nash & Co. In 2000 he joined Ashfords (then Bevan Ashford) where he specialised in employment law before joining Kitsons Solicitors as partner to head-up the Employment Department in 2007.

Rhodri is recognised inChamber's Guide to the Legal Professionas providing "brilliant and down-to-earth" advice and is "well-prepared and ego-less". Deemed "very good on his feet in court," he has experience of defending race and sex discrimination allegations as well as whistle-blowing cases for local authority clients.

He predominantly acts for employers and has represented clients from both the public and private sector. Rhodri deals with all aspects of employment law including employment tribunal claims for which he has considerable experience of successfully defending discrimination and business transfer related claims. He is also known for his pragmatic advice and HR support to clients, including advice on restructuring and redundancy, drafting policies and contracts, supporting clients with internal disciplinary and grievance procedures. Rhodri is a member of the Employment Lawyers' Association.

Rory WakelingBefore commencing his training contract with Kitsons in September 2010, Rory graduated from the University of Exeter with a first class degree. Rory qualified as a solicitor in October 2012 and now specialises in all aspects of employment law and is based in the firm’s Plymouth office.

As part of Kitsons employment team, Rory acts for claimants and respondents and has been involved in complex cases that have received national press attention. Rory advises a range of clients including private individuals, schools and businesses ranging from small start up to established national organisations. Rory comes “high recommended for potential clients” who have said they were impressed by his “can do approach” to meet timescales.
