Foodbank Manager

Part-time post, 16 hours a week; 9 of which are session management at present 12 – 3pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Including the attendance of all Carlisle Foodbank Board meetings. The sessions are currently held at Nisi Prius the Citadel Carlisle.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

To have theday to day delegated responsibilities for the collection and distribution of donations of food and goods in accordance with Foodbank values, objectives and policies. Management of the team of volunteers associated with the smooth operation and management of the Carlisle Foodbank project.

To undertake the day to day operations of Carlisle Foodbank and be the main point of reference for enquiries and volunteer recruitment, assisting and liaising with Partner agencies, Stakeholders and the general public.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To Line Manager (Designated Carlisle Foodbank Board Member): Follow direction; communicate by regular reports at Carlisle Board meetings; and to the Designated Board Member on a regular basis and when necessary should circumstances dictate.

To Volunteers:To provide supervision and oversight of all the Carlisle Foodbank volunteers including training in health and safety issues fire procedure, first aid box and information folders.

To co-ordinate and oversee rosters and activities for volunteers.

To provide information, leadership and support as needed including in particular delegation of duties during service.

Publish weekly e-newsletter.

To take the lead on recruitment of volunteers

To provide inductions for new volunteers, and ensure their ongoing training.

Completions and control of Databases relating to volunteers and Statutory Agencies.

To accurately record all accidents and injuries in line with COSHH, RIDDOR

To Carlisle Foodbank Partners:To promote mutually beneficial partnership work and liaise with existing and new partners.

To Statutory Agencies: To inform, liaise with, monitor, intervene as required to promote effective provision.

To Service Users: To provide food, promote dignity, respect and self- sufficiency. To provide guidance and support as able or refer on as required.

Premises: To ensure that current premises are able to provide a safe andclean working environment. To liaise with the relevant authorities and volunteers for removal of waste.

Stock: To ensure compliance with Food Safety Standards. Oversee and monitor stock in and stock out. Monitor and use initiative to optimise economy, maintenance, value, and minimise wastage

Record incoming fresh food and ensure all surplus food (eg sandwiches and pastries) arerefrigerated on arrival. Keep records of incoming frozen meals, including dates, temperature and quantity.

Ensure refrigerator and freezer temperatures are recorded at the beginning of each session

Finance: Manage petty cash float and account to the Treasurer at the end of each calendar month. Receiving and recording donations and sponsorship.

Training: Undertake specialist training when provided and required to extend opportunities to volunteers as appropriate.

ROLE SUPPORT

Provided by Designated Carlisle Foodbank Board Member supervision, and appraisal and development.

The appointment is subject to all statutory regulations regarding statutory sick pay, maternity leave, holidays, pension contributions.
