Kalo is the name of a Marshallese bird that flies only near land. Whenever a sailor sees a kalo, the sailor automatically know that land is near. I believe KALO buoy is a great name because buoys are used to mark something.Mark that the area is a fishing spot, mark if the spot is restricted, or mark if land is near.

The name for the buoy is "Emjak Buoy". This one might be good. Emjak is like an anchor that use to anchor a boat or a canoe. Marshallesepeople use to tie a good size rock with a hole in it. That rock is Emjak.

one of our Marshallese sailing skills use by our ancestors.signifies that your in the east of the Marshall Islands. Hardly to beseen, only few people know about it. Has to do with one of the old traditional sailing methods in the marshall Islands.Its a coral that happens to be in the east and east of in the Marshall Island.

Description: the reason why i name the bouy jejrakrok or in english it means sailing, is because marshallese people long ago and until now are navigators. they did most of their traveling by sailing. jejrakrok bouy would be an appropriate name because the word jejrakrok has a history . it is also related to the geography. people long ago had to sail in order to get to another island. how it is related to science is long ago people did not have maps or compass to know where they need to go. navigators( in majolese " ri-jarakrok") used techniques like feeling the waves, and looking at the stars. naming the bouy JEJRAKROKwould be a great choice because it fits all the descriptions and last is it simple and a catchy. i think people would have fun saying " lets stop by at JEJRAKROKbouy". i know i would..

LOLELAPLAP

" lole- mean surrounded and laplap mean bigger". lolelaplap mean islands that surround by a big ocean. In other word, " Islands that surroundings in the pacific ocean or we prefere as "pacific island".

KEJOKA (Ka so ke)

means things that you find on the sea shore that floated from other islands or places everywhere. For example; when I was young I used to go to the ocean side sea shore to find something (kejoka). One day, on Arno Atoll I was thinking of going again to look for “kejoka”, and I found one bottle with a $100.00 bill inside. Can you believe that? I took the bottle home, I showed to my father, and he breaks the bottle and he also found a note inside. I was still young and I couldn’t speak English, but he explains to me. “This note says, to my wife this is all I have”. He said it was from on of the sailors, but I forgot the rest of the information on the note. So, sometime “kejoka” means a lot to anybody. It can be “message in a bottle.”

BEJBETO (Bes beto)

Bes means Pandanus Fruit and Beto means floating. When you the Pandanus Fruit floating it upside down and it actually looks like the buoy when it’s floating on the sea.

ANA (A nge)

means anything that floating in the sea. As you know everything that floating in the sea is moving in every direction depends on the waves, winds, and etc. This is a unique word, nobody uses this or uses it before, and I don’t think everybody knows the meaning of Ana. So, you’ll be grateful to explain this word to the Marshallese people whom don’t know the meaning of Ana. They will be surprise if you know this and they don’t know. Maybe only the older people know this word.
