Concept Note

Currently we are providing training for Physicians, Dentists, Nurses and Medical Technicians. Realizing that there still exist certain lacunae’s in the education of health service professionals, the Dow University of Health Sciences is seriously considering to introduce an MBA program in health sciences, initially in the fields of Pharmaceutical Management and Health Services Management (Public Health And Hospital Administration).

The purpose of the Masters Program in Health Sciences is to promote and protect the public's health through the preparation of graduates for careers leading toward senior level leadership in health services management, and pharmaceutical marketing and management, and to conduct research and disseminate knowledge that will advance the organization, financing and delivery of health and medical services. This program seeks to train health managers and policy leaders in health care delivery, managed care, nursing, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.

The students will be trained in biostatistics, epidemiology, policy analysis, health promotion and disease prevention, health economics, the organization of health and medical care systems, strategic management, organizational behavior, health finance, health information technology, law and ethics etc.

To start with, out of various fields of management in health sciences the following 2 areas are classified as major niche markets and it is recommended that programs may be launched in the following specialties:

Health services Management (hospital administration and public health)

Pharmaceutical Marketing & Management

Upon successful completion of this program, students earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a major in health services management / Pharmaceutical marketing & management, from Dow University of Health Sciences.

Faculty will be selected to teach in the MBA program on the basis of how their backgrounds and experiences will add to the knowledge base of healthcare professionals who are students in the MBA program.
