Inter Press is currently looking for highly motivated, goal-oriented candidates to fill threepositionsat their head office in Mbezi Industrial Area.An attractive package and benefits are offered on two-year renewable contract terms. The positions are:

  1. Finance & Administrative Manager

The Finance & Administrative Manager reports to the General Manager and is responsible for finance, the development and execution of personnel management policies, and general administrative procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advises General Manager on personnel management procedures and activities including recruitment, development, incentives and motivation and discipline
  • Develops and administers company staff regulations and scheme of service, and liaises with external institutions (OTTU, ATE, etc.)to maintainharmonious industrial relations in the company
  • Develops and implements the systems and procedures for all matters pertaining to finance, assets evaluation depreciation and control, and investments
  • Ensures that all accounts are kept current and readily accessible for analysis
  • Prepares and submits regular financial statements (balance sheet,profit and loss, daily/monthly/quarterly accounts) and others as required by the General Manager
  • Develops, operates and maintains a long term financial plan to ensure efficient use of company resources, especially for future expansion
  • Undertakes some marketing activities – identification of new markets and marketing strategies, customer relations
  • Implements security for company property
  • Responsible for debt collection

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • Three (3) or more years working in a mid- to senior level in a similar position
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili
  • Proficient computer skills, especially with accounting software

  1. Marketing Executive

The Marketing Executive reports to the General Manager and will be responsible for developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives. The job will involve overseeing research and data on customers, competitors and market conditions and implementing marketing plan changes as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares and implements marketing strategy (including product pricing), marketing plan and department budget
  • Formulates, directs and coordinates marketing activities (campaigns and promotions) and policies to promote products and services – holds the responsibility for the marketing of all printing job works
  • Specifies market requirements for current and future products by undertaking or commissioning market research, supported by on-going visits to current customers and potential customers
  • Evaluates the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets expenditures
  • Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of tender documents
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, PR/Communications or similar fields
  • Minimum three years mid-level experience in marketing and/or sales
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods and people coordination
  • Effective written, oral, listening and general communication skills in English and Kiswahili
  • Demonstrable technical marketing skills

  1. Graphic Designer

The Graphic Designer reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for creating designs, concepts and sample layouts for clients. S/he will confer with clients to discuss and determine designs and layout, approve samples and recommend improvements as required. The Graphic Designer will also work with the Print Machine Operator for quality assurance of the approved final product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create graphic design products for visual communication materials such as magazines, annual reports, product catalogues, calendars, etc.
  • Work with marketing team to ensure good client relations
  • Meet with clients to discuss objectives, requirements and cost factors
  • Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Create samples, dummies, mock-ups and present to clients for approval
  • Proofread final designs for accuracy and quality
  • Work on layouts and art work to ensure readiness to print

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum Form IV leaver, with a Diploma in Desktop Publishing, Graphic Design and/Webpage design. A degree in Graphic Design is an advantage
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Graphic Designer (portfolio of work done is essential)
  • Knowledge and experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, PageMaker, Acrobat Professional and QuarkXPress
  • Experience with both PC and Apple
  • Good command of English and Kiswahili
  • Artistic creativity and innovative thinking
  • Flexibility and adaptability

  • Ability to work under pressure and long hours as required
