CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

The following conditions apply together with the Class conditions as contained on the attached sheet.

1."Class" Classifications and "Entry forms", form part of Conditions of Entry.

2.All cattle to be dehorned or polled.

3.Entry fee of $12.00 per single entry & $20.00 per pen to accompany entry form. (ie. Pen classes - $20.00 per pen)

4.All carcases to be judged using modified ABCAM system.

5.Proceeds to be calculated on the price of the day by Teys Bros. Biloela.

6.Competitor agrees to a 3.0% fee to be deducted from nett proceeds, by Callide Dawson beef Carcase Competition Committee for distribution to Show Society as nominated on Entry Form.

7.All cattle to be the responsibility of owner.

8.The judges’ decision will be final.

9.Any violation of "Conditions of Entry" will result in immediate disqualification.

10.The committee reserves the right to accept or reject any entries.

11.All animals to be eartagged in the near ear. Tag to be clearly marked with the number supplied.

12To avoid the need for segregation in the lot, it is asked that entrants adhere to the recommended starting weights.

Class 5.Pen of 3 Grainfed Steers(300420kg Carcase Weight)

Class 6.Single Grainfed Steer (300 – 420 kg Carcase Weight)

Class 7.Pen of 3 GrainfedHGP Free Trade Strs/Hfrs (180- 300 kg CW)

Class 8.Single GrainfedHGP FreeTrade Steers/Heifer (180- 300 kg CW)

  • Animals to be grain finished on a trial basis at Warnoah Feedlot, Moura – Steers over a 100day period. Trade cattle over 70 days. Weight gain points will be taken into account along with those for carcase suitability.
  • Area representatives will assist with delivery arrangements to and from the feedlot.
  • Class 5,6,7 & 8 Animals to be delivered to the Feedlot by 11thFebruary,2016.
  • The cost of the ration will be deducted pro-rata from the gross proceeds at the end of the trial.
  • Processing which covers drenching, dipping, 5in1 vaccine, ear tagging and HGP (optional) will occur upon delivery.
  • Should a vendor wish to use HGP in steers in Class 5 & 6, Elanco has donated 100day Compudose®.
  • Cattle enter a starter pen for a period of approximately one week until they are handling the grain ration adequately.
  • Steers will be weighed for the first time on transfer to the fattening pen on Monday, 15thFebruary. Progress weighing will take place after approximately 50 days (8th April). Final weighing to take place on date of delivery to meatworks. Trade cattle will be weighed on entry to fattening pens on 15thFebruaryand prior to delivery to meatworks. All weighings will be on a full basis.
  • Trade cattle will be slaughtered at Teys Bros on Monday the2thMay, 2016
  • Steers will be slaughtered at Teys Bros on Monday the 23thMay, 2016
  • In Class 5 and 7, points will be allocated from the two highest scoring carcases in each group.

Please note:

  • All animals are to be eartagged in the near ear before leaving the property. The tag to be clearly marked with the number supplied by the area representative.
  • Restrictions may apply on the number of entries per exhibitor if total entries exceed the limit.
  • All animals are to be effectively dehorned, where necessary. Any animal with horn(s) that are longer than the diameter at the base or that could cause bruising to other animals in the feeding pen will be removed from the competition at the discretion of the nominated scrutineer
  • Any steer showing secondary male characteristics on the slaughter floor will be disqualified at the discretion of the nominated scrutineer.
