- RMO PROJECT APPROVED BY COALITION
At the January meeting, the Coalition approved creating a Re-Entry Management Organization (RMO) for the Capital Region. The concept calls for the establishment of the RMO in the Economic Development Center (EDC) opening soon at 13th and Derry Streets in the PNC Bank Building. The location is convenient and will be a good fit with the training and other activities offered by the EDC. The RMO will center on providing Information and Referral Services to ex-offenders and some limited case management support. The concept requires hiring a Coordinator. The position will be paid for by grants and the Coordinator will be “hired” by an established non-profit organization. Presently, discussions are underway with Goodwill to serve as the “administrative/fiscal” lead for the RMO. The Coordinator’s work as well as all of the activities of the RMO will be overseen by the RMO Work Group in close cooperation with the Coalition. The RMO work will not begin until full funding is committed for the project for at least one year. The RMO Committee has developed a proposed annual budget ($54,200) and a job description for the Coordinator’s position. Copies of the materials were distributed at the January meeting and are available by contacting Tim Whelan at or 717-732-0700 ext. 37.

- SUCCESS STORIES SOUGHT
The success stories of ex-offenders creating new crime-free lives after incarceration are not well known by the public. The Coalition is looking to collect the stories of ex-offenders who have successfully made the transition back to our community. Please send your success stories to Tim Whelan at . The stories will be shared in future issues of the Link.

- NEW BY-LAWS ADOPTED BY COALITION
In an effort to begin formalizing the Capital Region Ex-Offender Support Coalition, the Coalition approved new By-Laws at the January meeting. The By-Laws spell-out the formal operation and processes of the Coalition including the Coalition’s structure, terms of office for officers, and creation of a Board of Directors to coordinate and direct the Coalition’s activities among other things. Copies of the By-Laws were distributed at the meeting and revised before adoption by the Coalition. Copies of the By-Laws can be obtained by contacting Tim Whelan at or 717-732-0700 ext. 37.
