EOS 77D and EOS 800D both incorporate an unprecedented breakthrough in “Dual Pixel CMOS AF” (DAF)
Technology which achieves the world’s fastest AF speed of 0.03s*. EOS 77D built with mid-range DSLR control including a top LCD display panel, Quick Control Dial and AF-ON button is perfect for enthusiasts demanding creativity expressions and operational freedom; while EOS 800D combining AF speed that rivals mid-range models, advanced functions with simple operation made possible with the newly added “Guided” user interface makes the ideal choice for entry-level users who are new to the world of digital interchangeable lens cameras. Pixel CMOS AF” (DAF) Technology which achieves the world’s fastest AF speed of 0.03s*, enabling users to capture fleeting moments easily with fast and accurate AF during Live View shooting. With the use of the 3.0-inch 1,040,000-dot Vari-angle 3:2
Clear View II LCD monitor that supports Touch AF and Touch Shutter functions, users can frame a shot easily from different angles and enjoy a more convenient and intuitive experience in shooting, viewing and setting change.
DAF supports 3 types of AF modes, including [Face + Tracking Priority AF] useful for portraits, [Live Single-Point AF] that sets a single focal position, and the new [Smooth
Zone AF] for selecting AF points across a wide area. With DAF available throughout
80% of the frame area in horizontal and vertical directions, dynamic and static subjects of different topics and at any position in the frame can be captured as desired. When shooting in Live View mode, the cameras support continuous shooting with SERVO AF function at up to 4.5 FPS, making them more capable to capture fastmoving subjects.

Canon CMOS sensor that utilizes new finer manufacturing process and circuitry design to bring higher image quality and wider dynamic range. Coupled with the new
DIGIC 7 digital image processor that is capable of rendering the finest details in rich tones at the highest level of precision, high-quality portraits as usual with smooth, beautiful skin tones and crisp, detail-filled landscape photos are ensured. Thanks to the outstanding image processing system, a wide standard ISO range of ISO 100-
25600 (expandable to ISO 51200 (H)) that rivals high-end models is supported to facilitate shooting in various situations.
Both cameras offer 11 built-in Special Scene modes to help entry-level users cope with the needs of shooting in different occasions. In addition to “Kids” and “Handheld
Night Scene” modes, a new “Group Photo” mode is added, in which the camera automatically adjusts the aperture, shutter speed and ISO speed to ensure deep focus, resulting in beautiful, never-fail group photos for memorable family events and travels. In addition, the cameras offer 10 Creative Filters for users to experience a wider range of photographic creation.
45-Point All Cross-Type AF System1 and Maximum 6 FPS High-Speed Shooting to Capture Fast Action
EOS 77D and EOS 800D both feature EOS 80D’s renowned 45-point1 all cross-type
AF system, bringing the same levels of expanded AF coverage and accuracy as midrange models to facilitate easy capture of subjects of different sizes and movement through the viewfinder while enhancing compositional flexibility. This AF system includes a f/2.8 compatible high-precision dual-cross center AF point that supports low-light conditions up to EV -32. When shooting with extender making the lens’ maximum aperture stopped down to f/8, it still provides a maximum of 27 AF points1, in which 9 of them1 are cross-type AF points, bringing greater flexibility in tele- photography. 4 AF Area Selection modes including "Large Zone AF" are available to meet various needs, and high-precision AF tracking is ensured with the adoption of AI SERVO AF II algorithm which is found in mid-range models. Furthermore, both cameras feature “Color Tone Detection AF”3 which supports focusing to skin tone detected by the camera’s 7,560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor under One Shot AF as well as Color Tracking AF during AI SERVO AF. This is a very useful feature that ensures accurate focusing on people even when an object is found in the foreground.
An “Intelligent Viewfinder” with on-demand Electronic Level, Gridline, Aspect Ratio
Line and Flicker Detection is also equipped to facilitate accurate autofocus, framing and shooting through the optical viewfinder.
Both cameras support up to 6 FPS high-speed continuous shooting to help users capture the best shot in a dynamic scene. For better indoor continuous shooting performance, an Anti-Flicker Shooting function is featured to ensure more consistent exposure and color when shooting under flickering light sources such as fluorescent light.
Built-in Wi-Fi/NFC/Bluetooth® Connectivity for Convenient Remote Shooting
And Instant Sharing
EOS 77D and EOS 800D offer multiple wireless connection options for easy shooting, photo management and sharing. A built-in IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and NFC function are available for easy connection to smartphones, social networking sites, Connect
Station CS100, printers and wireless EOS Utility etc. With “Camera Connect” application, remote Live View shooting and movie shooting from smartphones are possible, while images or MP4 movies can also be viewed and saved to smartphones. A new Wi-Fi button added on the rear enables easy one-touch Wi-Fi connection during shooting or standby mode for image transfer or remote shooting.
Furthermore, the newly supported Bluetooth® low energy technology can sustain connection between the camera and compatible smartphones4 at low power consumption. With this, user can wake up the camera which is in Auto Power Off mode at anytime from a smartphone through the “Camera Connect” application, and subsequent wireless functions can be performed by switching to Wi-Fi connection.
Both cameras also support the new Wireless Remote Controller BR-E1, Canon’s first remote controller utilizing the same Bluetooth® low energy technology, for remote shooting from any direction within 5m from the camera.
Optimum Operability and New “Guided” User Interface that Suit Different Levels of Users
Emphasizing on mid-range DSLR operability, EOS 77D is equipped with a top LCD display panel that allows for quick checking of settings at a glance, a Quick Control
Dial on the rear that enables easy change of settings without moving the eye away from the viewfinder, an AF-ON button for greater operational freedom and a Displayoff Sensor. The superior operability offered by EOS 77D enables users to fully unleash the powerful functionalities of the camera. It also offers an in-camera "Interval
Timer" for easy capture of changes of a subject and "Bulb Timer" for taking longexposure shots for topics such as night scene, fireworks and star trails without the need of using a remote controller. Designed for entry-level users to enjoy shooting with easy operation, EOS 800D, on the other hand, adopts a newly default “Guided” user interface (an optional user interface for EOS 77D) which helps users get familiar with the camera and enhances their understanding of different shooting modes and effects through the use of photos, graphics and easy-to-understand photography vocabulary.
EOS 77D and EOS 800D measures only 131 x 99.9 x 76.2mm in size and weighs
493g and 485g respectively (body only), making them the perfect everyday cameras for enthusiasts and entry-level users to experience high-quality imaging. The compact design of EOS 77D also makes it the smallest and lightest mid-range DSLR camera among the current EOS line-up.

EOS 77D and EOS 800D are equally exceptional in both photo and movie shooting. A new Movie Digital Image Stabilization (IS)5 function that supports digital 5-axis IS is featured in both cameras, which can significantly prevent camera shakes when shooting hand-held movies and make it possible for beginners to create high-quality movies.
Both cameras support 50p/59.94p Full HD EOS Movie, making it easy to capture stunning movies for high-speed subjects with movements appear smoother and more natural. Coupled with the high image quality brought by the new CMOS sensor, as well as the smooth and precise Movie Servo AF powered by the high-speed “Dual
Pixel CMOS AF” (DAF), beautiful movies with clear and detailed images can be achieved effortlessly.
In addition, both cameras support MP4 movie format to make direct viewing and sharing of movies easier on different devices such as smartphones and tablets. To help users fully unleash the power of movie creation, both cameras feature an incamera Full HD HDR (High Dynamic Range) Movie6 shooting which can retain details in highlight when shooting in high-contrast scenes, and Time Lapse Movie function for automatic creation of Full HD time lapse movie7 from a series of still images shot over a specific interval. Featuring a more compact design ideal for everyday use, EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS
STM standard zoom lens8 achieves an 18% length reduction compared to EF-S 18-
55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM. It offers a useful focal range equivalent to approximately
29mm to 88mm in 35mm full-frame format, a 0.25x maximum magnification (at
55mm) and a 0.25m minimum focusing distance to cater different topics from portraits to landscapes. The lens features a new 12 elements in 10 groups optical lens construction with 1 PMo aspherical lens element to suppress lens aberrations. A 7blade circular aperture is utilized for beautiful bokeh. Quiet and smooth continuous AF is supported in movie shooting and Live View shooting by the lead-screw type
Stepping Motor (STM) 9, and Full Time Manual focusing is supported for enhanced focusing operability. The lens also features an optical Image stabilizer (IS) that offers shake compensation up to 4-stop shutter speed10, and can automatically detect normal shooting and panning for optimal compensation. In addition, an inner focusing design makes it more convenient to shoot with filters. Lens coatings are optimized for digital cameras to ensure excellent color balance and minimize ghosting and flare. An optional Lens Hood EW-63C can also be used to further enhance flare resistance.
Canon’s First Bluetooth® Wireless Remote Controller BR-E1 for All-Directional
Remote Shooting
Canon’s first wireless remote controller that utilizes Bluetooth® low energy technology,
BR-E1 is compatible with EOS DSLR cameras11 equipped with the same
Bluetooth® low energy technology. Compared to conventional infra-red remote controller, BR-E1 has no restrictions on controller direction, meaning remote operation can be performed from any direction within the approximately 5m operating distance from the camera for more creativity freedom. It also incorporates independent buttons for remote AF and remote zoom operation of Power Zoom
Adapter PZ-E1.
