Brief Position Descriptions

Chair / Secretary / Treasurer / Board Member
The Chair is responsible for:
·  Convening Board meetings
·  Leading the board in setting the strategic direction for the organisation
·  Chairing and providing for the orderly conduct of Board meetings
·  Supervision of the CT Development Officer
·  Liaison with member clubs
·  Liaison with funding bodies and preparation of applications for grants and grant reports
·  Representing CT to Australian Canoeing and to state and national bodies and forums where relevant
·  Taking the lead on any media activity
·  Approval (as a second approver) of association payments and transfers
·  Contributing to the strategic direction of the association and good governance.
The Chair is the public face of Canoe Tasmania. / The Secretary is responsible for:
·  Receipt of association correspondence
·  Taking of minutes of Board meetings
·  Preparation of the Agenda for board meetings
·  Maintaining the written records of the organisation
·  Contributing to the strategic direction of the association and good governance. / The Treasurer is responsible for:
·  The receipt and disbursement of all funds with the exception of those funds delegated to the Development Officer
·  Monitoring expenditure
·  Monitoring association bank accounts
·  Monitoring club membership in relation to affiliation fees
·  Invoicing
·  Maintaining orderly financial records and reporting to the Board on the associations finances
·  Preparation of accounts for Annual Audit
·  Liaison with the Auditor on financial systems and processes
·  Liaison with Australian Canoeing on financial matters
·  Approval (as first of two approvers) of association payments and transfers
·  Contributing to the strategic direction of the association and good governance. / Board members are responsible for
·  Contributing to the strategic direction of the association and good governance
·  Providing advice, input and a point of liaison back to member associations.
Independent Board Member / Development Officer / Director of Coaching / Hydro Liaison Officer
Independent Board Members are appointed for their particular skills set and as such are responsible for
·  Contributing to the strategic direction of the association and good governance
·  Providing advice, input to the board in their field of expertise, and
·  Providing an independent view point and opinions to assist the board in making sound decisions. / The Development Officer is a paid, contract position and is responsible for:
·  Delivery of outcomes on behalf of and as directed through the Board
·  Maintenance of ACAS records and administration of the ACAS system in Tasmania.
·  Liaison with AC on development and ACAS matters
·  Maintenance of the CT web-presence.
·  Support to clubs in relation to IT, Administration and Governance matters
·  Development of programs and activities to support the growth of canoeing and the increase of skills and qualifications in the canoeing community.
·  Management of delegated Development and ACAS funds. / The Director of Coaching is responsible for the development of coaching skills in Tasmania including:
·  Working with AC to develop coaching programs and activities
·  Liaison with AC and Tasmanian based coaches on their development needs and activities
·  Assisting the development of pathway programs and coordinating resources to best effect
·  Liaison with the TIS on Coaching and Athlete support and resources. / In recognition of the close and important relationship that canoe Tasmania and Hydro Tasmania share, one person will be appointed as the key liaison point for Hydro Tasmania. This person is responsible for:
·  Maintaining good relations with Hydro Tasmania
·  Negotiating significant water releases
·  Coordinating where possible competing demands for water releases to maximise water utility and minimise impact on Hydro Tasmania of multiple requests.
