Subject: Revised prayers and responses: Links to the new Roman Missal and NORE’s catechetical programs

Dear Families,

As you know, the English-speakingChurch in Canada will begin using The Roman Missal on November 27, 2011, which is the First Sunday of Advent and the start of the new Church year.

We at the National Office of Religious Education have reviewed each of our programs from Year 1 to Year 12 and have created lists to show you where prayers and responses from the Mass must be updated to reflect the revised wording in The Roman Missal. (Note: There are no changes to Years 1, 11 or Year 12). The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops asks that all catechists begin using these new prayers and responses by November 27, 2011, as they catechize young people. In this way, the catechesis remains in keeping with the words of the Mass throughout English-speaking Canada.

We have organized the lists as follows:

Programs are arranged in three different sections: Home, Parish, School

Within each section, programs are further arranged by component: for example, Student Book (Child’s Book), Catechist (Teacher) Manual, Family Packs (The Archdiocese of St. John’s created Family Packs for Years 1, 2 and 3, with CCCB copyright permission and some other Dioceses are also using these. Correlations are also provided for these editions.

Each component includes Years 2 to Year 10, in order as appropriate to the addition (for all years that have wording changes).

Each list provides the current wording (by page number) along with the revised wording from the Roman Missal. (The revised texts for the Nicene and Apostles Creed are given in Word files because of their consistent use and potential need for handouts.)

Introductory material prepared by Monsignor Murray Kroetsch is provided as background to the changes in the new Roman Missal. Links are also provided to powerpoint presentations developed by the Hamilton Diocese,

and to the CCCB pew card

so as to facilitate participation of children and youth in celebrations of the Eucharist.

The National Office of Religious Education and the Episcopal Commission for Catechesis, CCCB, express their appreciation to Rev. Bill Burke, Director of the CCCB National Liturgy Office for his consultation on this project.

If you have any questions on the material included in this email, please contact .
