Facilitated by the Fair Elections Legal Network (FELN)

The Fair Elections Legal Network (FELN) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing barriers to voting for traditionally underrepresented communities. Campus Vote Project (CVP) is a campaign dedicated specifically to helping college campuses identify and overcome the barriers to registration and voting that disproportionately affect students.

Dan Vicuna, FELN staff attorney and CVP coordinator, will present a webinar describing best practices for getting more college students involved in the political process. The webinar will also describe areas of North Carolina election law that administrators should be aware of when planning student voting activities this year.

National Voter Registration Day NC Challenge

National Voter Registration Day is September 25, 2012. We are challenging NC Campus Compact member campuses to facilitate voter registration events between September 1 and September 25. We will give a $200 cash prize to the campus that registers the most students. The funds can be used to support additional election-related activities or to support ongoing civic engagement efforts.

If your campus would like to participate, you must register on the National Voter Registration Day site. Once you’ve signed on you will list your events on their website. They will provide information and resources to support your efforts. Be sure to track the number of folks your register! You will report your results by October 3, 2012. Winners will be announced on October 17, 2012.
