Call to order and agenda

Meeting called to order on Thursday, June 19, 2008 by Stephen McCann at 9:30 am British Summer Time (BST). The chair then reviewed the following topics from the agenda:

·  The agenda is document number 11-08/0720r0

·  The chair read the IEEE patent policy

o  The membership had no questions on the policy

o  The chair requested information on essential patents, patent claims, and pending patent applications and called for letters of assurance. No response was made to the call

·  The chair also noted the affiliation FAQ, anti-trust FAQ, ethics code, IEEE 802.11 policies and procedures, and IEEE 802 policies and procedures

Letter Ballot comments on 802.11u draft

·  Some comments received on Letter Ballot #130 from Alistair Malarky were technical comments addressing the substance of the draft. These comments will be carried over to Letter Ballot #132.

·  The ad hoc reviewed technical comments received on Letter Ballot #132.

o  11-08/0722 was created to hold comments received.

o  10 technical comment resolutions were proposed and placed in Comment Group 1.

o  Two comments were identified for further discussion with for the task group meeting at the July 2008 plenary session in Denver.

To accommodate the proposed discussion in Denver, the task group chair created 11-08/0721 for the July 2008 meeting agenda.

September ad hoc

·  After investigation of potential ad hoc venues, the ad hoc recommends that the task group join the TGs ad hoc meeting arrangements in September.

Liasons

·  802.21 liaison

o  The task group needs to seek formal comments from 802.21 on the TGu draft.

o  At the closing plenary session in Jacksonville in May 2008, a motion was passed by the working group to ask the 802.21 working group for comments. This motion can be found in the working group minutes from May 2008 (11-08/0571).

o  The ad hoc drafted the letter in 11-08/0731 for Vivek Gupta, the 802.21 working group chair

·  3GPP

o  Both the 802.21 working group and the 802.11 working group are sending liaisons to 3GPP. The two 802 working groups need to cooperate on sending liasons, and a joint meeting in July 2008 in Denver could potentially be important.

o  A liaison response has been received from 3GPP SA1 noting that the matter has been referred to CT1.

o  The ad hoc will recommend that a 3GPP liaison officer be recruited from the 802.11 working group membership.

·  802.1af

o  The task group chair will invite a member of the working of the 802.1af task group to present to TGu ad the July 2008 meeting.
