Call to Order: 7:34 pm
OFFICER’S REPORTS
Co-Presidents: Jen Younce & Jen Snyder
· Ratify meeting minutes from February 16, 2012 – MOTION APPROVED
· Nominating Committee – Caroline Credno, Kate Barker and Lara Bryson – committee will make attempts to find people for all the open positions. President will give a list of the candidates to the general membership 2 weeks prior to the meeting in May. Nominations can also be made at the May PTO meeting prior to balloting. Each nominee is given 5 minutes to speak at the meeting in May. All that is needed is a simple majority to be elected onto the board. If only 1 person is running for a position, the Secretary can cast the elective ballot for the PTO. Vacancies can be filled by a majority vote for officers.
· Would like to combine the Corresponding Secretary/Recording Secretary into one position. This position will also be taking over the monthly PTO newsletter.
· PTO President position is open and can be filled by a teacher or parent. Co-presidents are preferable.
· PTO positions that are open will be posted with a description on the PTO website and the PTO bulletin board.
VP-Fundraising: Jen Younce for Cindy Amurao
· Spring raffle - $682.00 sold, which is 818 tickets
· Spirit wear – $460.00 in cash thus far with $150.00 in internet sales, extending sale for one more week
· Thinking of changing fundraising to things that require less man hours- need to begin thinking of new ideas for next school year.
VP-Academics: Caroline Credno
· Mrs. Boucher – 2nd grade teacher – requested Writer’s Workshop folders for the entire 2nd grade for next year – these are used to organize the writing process for students – cost - $291.43 – motion to approve – 2nd – MOTION APPROVED
Treasurer’s Report: Laura Moynihan
· Box Tops – deposited $1,270.00
· Concessions from movie night – deposited $163.00
· Dinner Fundraiser at Fuddruckers – deposited $405.97
· Paid for Bullying and Dennis Lee performances and math manipulative
COMMITTEE REPORTS
After School Program: Jen Younce for Kathy Galkin
· Chess is beginning April 11
· Girls on the Run started this week
· 1 more week of yoga
Cultural Arts: Jen Younce
· United Way – May 3rd – interactive free show for entire school focused on health.
· Maybe trying to get another show in April
Dinner for Dollars: Jen Snyder
· Chick-fil-a night April 18 from 5-8 and includes the drive thru window – location is the new one off Route 7 and Loudoun County Parkway – Stickers will be used for reminding students and the Chick-fil-a cow will be at the school
· Looking into Rubino’s for May
Family Movie Night – Mrs. Vickers
· Lots of people attended and it brought in $163.00 in concessions
Fall Fundraiser – Sandy Bricka
· Innisbrook – gift wrap company – maybe an idea for the Fall fundraiser next year.
· We need to get a goal for fundraising so parents know what we are raising money for at the school. A set of goals which we could ask the parents through a survey ideas and suggestions to spend the money on at the school.
· We could do a Spring walk-a-thon
· Maybe just do a family day
· Do a mail campaign where each family just donates a set amount at the beginning of the year and then, depending on the amount raised, we can scale back on the smaller fundraisers the rest of the year.
· We are going to post a survey to start April 10-18th – to get parent feedback and discuss results at the April meeting.
Grocery Fundraiser: Terri Williams
· Harris Teeter - $2,134.51
· Giant - $6,949.48
Hospitality: Jen Younce for Jennifer Dietz
· Teacher Appreciation lunch coming up on May 9th – Italian theme
· Potluck lunch where parents will be asked to send in meatballs, sauces, salads, etc.
· Sending out suggested ideas to the whole school for teacher appreciation week gifts, these will appear in the monthly newsletter as well.
Odyssey of the Mind – Lisa Cohen
· Competing this Saturday in regional tournament
· Looking for new coordinator for next year
Scholarship: Jen Younce for Betsy Goodwin
· Will accept applications until March 30th.
· No applications submitted as of the PTO meeting
School Supplies: Jen Younce for Jen McNally
· Working with the teachers to come up with the lists
· Hoping to have all order forms available for Kindergarten parents this year.

· March 30th – duck tape Mrs. Walthour – 1500 tickets sold
NEW BUSINESS:
· Shed – The girl scouts have a 10 x 10 shed they want to sell – will check to see how much they would like for it. Mrs. Vickers would like to ask a local handyman to take a look and see how much it would be to repair the current shed.
Teacher Report: Mrs. Birmingham
· Children and staff really enjoyed the Dennis Lee performance.
Principal’s Report: Mrs. Walthour
· Field Day will be early this year – April 20th – each teacher at the end of the year can also do a water day if they would like.
· April 10th the parent portal will open for Clarity for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. This is the on-line grading system for Loudoun County. Looking to a County representative to come to the school to explain the portal to parents in April.
· Staffing next year: 5-5th grade classes, 4-4th grade classes, 5-3rd grade classes, 5-2nd grade classes, 5-1st grade classes, 4-Kindergarten classes (no full day kindergarten)
· April 17th – Kindergarten registration day
· April 17th – 2nd grade music performance
· April 10-12 – Cogat testing for 2nd grade
· Parent input forms for next year for students were sent home today and need to be back to Mrs. Walthour by March 29th
