PRESCRIPTION
1.Stand 16, M6. Units 1 and 2, Mark to achieve a residual BA of 70 sq. ft. Leave all oak, pine, cedar and hemlock. Create 5, 30 - 50 ft crown openings per acre for regeneration gaps. Locate some gaps adjacent to hemlock clumps. Additional marking guidelines for crop tree identification and release are found in the Compleat Marker. Out areas are clearcut units and will not be marked or cruised.
2.Stand 40, M9. Units 1 and 2, Thin to a residual BA of 80 sq. ft. Remove high risk poor quality trees. Favor good quality future crop trees to be retained. Mark no oak, pine, cedar, or hemlock.
Access: To stand 16 from Ralph: Take CR 581 north to Floodwood Rd/Lake 36 Flooding, about 0.6 mi west of the Marquette county line. From CR 557 between Gwinn and Arnold: Take CR 438 west to Floodwood Rd, about 0.6 mi west of the Marquette county line. Sale area is accessible with good woods roads.
To stand 40 from Ralph: Take Co Rd 426 east about 7 miles to Schultz Rd, take Schultz Rd 9.5 miles north.

SPECIAL MARKING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Stand 16, M6: 100% tally of sawlogs marked for cutting in units 1 & 2.
2. Stand 40, M6: 100% tally of sawlogs for both units.
3. Summary for each unit and the stand total will be required.
4. TALLY SHEETS PROVIDED BY DNR MUST BE USED, as they include large pulp sticks that are to be tallied.
5. Plenty of paint is to be used for stump marks.
Unless otherwise specified, the tally sheets used must be those provided by the Forest, Mineral and Fire Management Unit.
RESTRICTIONS
- Forest, Mineral and Fire Management Division must to be able to identify who did what on the timber sale.
- The contractor may not have more than two markers in one payment unit without prior approval.
- Each marker should have an assigned area to mark (not strips).
PAINT
- Call Debat (906) 246 - 3245, to make arrangements for paint.
- Paint will be supplied from Felch.
- Contractor’s work schedule must coincide with the DNR work schedule for paint supply.
- The DNR will not be available on weekends or evenings.
DELIVERABLES
- A list of names that marked or cruised each payment unit.
- A summary of paint used (in quarts).
- Tally summaries for each payment unit (one summary, regardless of the number of markers) and all of the original tally sheets.
- Marking quality control check sheets.
