MINUTES
MEETING 1
May 10, 2012
2:00-2:30 p.m. in PSY-150
1. The meeting was called to order at 2:03 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: The agenda was approved by unanimous consent.
Chair Vollendorf explained the new rules and regulations of the senate elections.
Vice Chair O’Connor took over the meeting.
3. ELECTION OF CHAIR
Candidate Vollendorf said a statement regarding her interest in the position.
A vote ensued:
Yes: 60
No: 7
Candidate Vollendorf was re-elected as the Chair for the Academic Senate, 2012-13.
4. ELECTION OF VICE CHAIR
Candidate Colburn and O’Connor gave statements expressing interest in the position.
A vote ensued:
Candidate Colburn: 34
Candidate O’Connor: 38
Candidate O’Connor was re-elected as Vice Chair for the Academic Senate, 2012-13.
5. ELECTION OF SECRETARY
Candidate Miles gave a statement to support his nomination:
A vote ensued:
Yes: 64
No: 7
Candidate Miles was re-elected as Secretary to the Academic Senate, 2012-13.
6. ELECTION OF FOUR AT-LARGE MEMBERS OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Nominations from the floor were taken. Each of the four individuals expressed their interest in the position except for Misty Jaffe, who had Malcolm Finney speak on her behalf.
A vote ensued with the following results:
A. Nancy Quam-Wickham: 20
B. Misty Jaffe: 25
C. Jalal Torabzadeh: 13
D. Keith Freesemann: 12
A run-off vote ensued:
Nancy Quam-Wickham: 36
Misty Jaffe: 35
Nancy Quam-Wickham was elected as the first At-Large member, 2012-13.
The following individuals were elected from the floor and a vote ensued:
Jalal Torabzadeh: 18
Misty Jaffe: 33
Keith Freesemann: 21
A run-off vote ensued:
Misty Jaffe: 36
Keith Freesemann: 37
Senator Freesemann was elected as the second At-Large member.
The following individuals were elected from the floor and a vote ensued:
Jalal Torabzadeh: 38
Misty Jaffe: 34
Senator Torabzadeh was elected as the third At-Large member.
The following individuals were nominated from the floor and a vote ensued:
Hank Fradella – He declined the nomination.
Alan Colburn - He declined the nomination.
Dorothy Ottolia- She declined the nomination.
Misty Jaffe was the only candidate for the position.
Misty Jaffe: 46
Opposed: 23
Senator Jaffe was elected as the fourth At-Large member.
7. CONFIRMATION OF COLLEGE/UNIT REPRESENTATIVES TO THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE
2 senators from CLA are required and the following were confirmed:

Nele Hempel-Lamer
One representative from each of the other colleges is required. Confirmations were directed from the floor:
