Calicut Heritage Forum

Calicut Heritage Forum (www.calicutheritage.com) has, in association with the family of Prof. K V Krishna Ayyar and some other donors, instituted an endowment fund to commemorate the contribution of Prof. Ayyar to the history and heritage of Kerala in general and of Calicut in particular. The endowment conducts an annual lecture on some aspect related to Prof. Ayyar’s contribution, to be delivered on the birth anniversary of Prof. Ayyar. This year’s lecture will be delivered by Prof. Rajan Gurukkal, eminent historian and former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Prof. Gurukkal is now a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The lecture will be delivered on 3rd November 2016.

The Forum also seeks to encourage original research in areas of history and culture of Kerala by instituting a scholarship among research students (both M.Phil and Ph.D) working in these areas. The award constitutes a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation. Each year one scholar will be selected for the award, who will be designated as ‘Professor K V Krishna Ayyar Scholar’. The award will be presented at the endowment lecture on 3rd November, 2016, where the recipient will be invited to give a brief presentation of her/his topic of research.

The selection committee for this year consists of Prof. M G S Narayanan, Prof. Kesavan Veluthat and C.K Ramachandran (Convener).
