FINANCIAL REPORT

Youth Group

Current Balance

The Youth Group’s Account last reported balance on 07/21/2010 is $4,389.43.

This figure is subject to change due to the Youth Group’s inheritance of an underused Republic Bank Parish account that may have some parish money within the final balance figure above.

Income and Expenditure

The Youth Group has not spent a cent from its account in 2010. We have funded all projects with our own pockets. The President, Kyle Grant sponsored things like empty seats on trips, accessories for plays, other activities and supplied the needs of the group.

Football Team

It should be noted that the football team and youth group are financial independent from each other. However, the football team falls under the umbrella of the Youth Group.

The football team has received $4,460.00 from the parish.

The budget for the football team cannot be prepared at the moment because the team is being restructured.

Highlights for 2010

Prepared by Karyn Corbett, P.R.O

S.R.A.Y.C Sports Biennial Day (April 17th): This was held at St. Stephen College, Princess Town. The younger members of the Youth Group attended and participated in as many events as possible. We didn’t place in the overall events but won a few individual awards, bonded and had a good time.

Youth Service I Second Sunday (June 13th): Every Second Sunday, there would be a youth service where we had to select an agreeable theme. This decision usually occurs on the first Sunday of the month.

Trip to Harry`s Water Park (July 10th): The event was a great success, it was an interactive day between the members of the youth group and friends. The food was described as delightful and the rides had everyone saying “wow”.

Youth Service II ant trip to Fort George (August 8th): The service was a success, our Ushers were acknowledged and they were commented for a Job well done. This service was followed by a relaxing trip to Fort George.

Youthquake (August 21st): Youthquake was a spiritually oriented experience. It was not easily accepted by members of the Youth Group due to our spiritual immaturity but this is something we strive to work on gradually. This event required contributions from the congregation and the Youth Group was able to receive assistance and cooperation from the congregation.

Rehearsal for Golden Calf skit (September 11th): Everyone came with the same goal and that was, to perfect the play before the service on Sunday and our goal was achieved.

Youth Service III (September 12th): The service ended up being one of the greatest productions to be executed by the St Andrew Youth Group. Bridgette`s delivery of the sermon was well received by the church congregation and for our next service we aim at perfecting it as well.

General Comments

The youth group has allowed a greater level of management skills in their activities. As a result we have been able to participate in a greater level of activities. Facebook and the internet has become our main form of communication hence reducing our need for meetings.

CHALLENGES

·  Getting youths to participate in church service beyond Youth Sunday

·  Bringing back Youth Group members of the past to church

·  Commitment of young people to join other groups in the church

·  Succession planning: to find a leader to replace the current President

·  Getting the footballers to attend church services

·  School, lessons, work and other individual schedules negatively affect organizing events effectively

·  Commitment to bible studies and spiritual growth

·  Finding a manager for the football team, a youth group coordinator and an assistant secretary

LOOKING AHEAD

This is the same St. Andrew Anglican Youth Group with new, younger members with fresh perspective. The executive is the most visible of any Youth Group serving under the President, Kyle Grant. The group has a long way to go before it can be rendered fully operational. We are looking ahead to 2011 hopefully with the same executive with high hopes, full of anticipation and a cautious approach.

Conclusion

The Youth Group has bonded over the past year. However, there has been little growth in terms of member numbers. We anticipate an increase in membership from the current batch of confirmation candidates. Youth service is our prized, monthly achievement and we would like to see this service stand equal or greater than Harvest, Palm Sunday and Christmas.

We recognize that we are one of the few and strongest youth groups within the Diocese of Trinidad and Tobago and we will search for means around our challenges. To GOD be the Glory!
