CAISTOR DIARY UPDATES – THURSDAY 18th OCTOBER

RE: LOCAL COUNCIL TAX SUPPORT SCHEME

As you will be aware Councils have been considering the changes that need to be brought about by the introduction of a Local Council Tax Support Scheme, which is one part of the Government’s Welfare Reform Act.

West Lindsey District Council’s Policy and Resources Committee have now had the opportunity to fully consider its position in relation to a Local Council Tax Support Scheme and has approved a scheme for consultation with precepting Authorities and the local community.

Your opinion counts and we would like your views on the proposals by 12th December 2012.

Follow the link below for more details of the changes, the consultation, questionnaire and frequently asked questions.

We look forward to receiving your completed questionnaires by 12th December.

THEFTS FROM FARM BUILDINGS- CAISTOR AREA
Message from Market Rasen Police Station 17th October.
We have received reports of persons lamping on land around the Hackthorn area. Although no vehicles were seen tracks left at the scene and damage to crops would indicate a prolonged visit.
Overnight 15th / 16th offenders entered an insecure barn at North End Lane, South Kelsey and once inside used an implement to force a secured cabinet within the barn and having disconnected the gas bottle stole a Welder valued at £2,000.
Also the same evening offenders attended second premises on North End Lane, and again forced entry to an outbuilding and although a search was made it appears at this time that nothing was stolen from the property.
A third farm was attacked at South Kelsey Road, North Kelsey and entry gained to buildings there with offenders stealing a hedge cutter, chainsaw and other items. Offenders are actively targeting your area please be vigilant.
Thank you

Straight from the Edinburgh Fringe! IARTSCO-CAISTOR'S 2012/3 Season of Drama opens later this month with the first of six contrasting comedies:

Recreating the unique spirit of 1940’s radio plays and brilliantly evoking a dinner-jacketed age of casual imperialism and stiff upper lips, this playtours fresh from three critically-acclaimed London residencies, and two sell-out years at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Performed with cut-glass theatricality blending homage and satire, Fitzroviamixes the chauvinist attitudes of 1940s Britain with sharp contemporary humour to produce a heady comic cocktail. Rippingly good fun! NB Venue: Caistor Yarborough Academy LN7 6QZ

Tickets £10 in advance from Caistor Post Office or 01472 851159

West Lindsey Community Assets Fund (CAF)
In these challenging times, it’s good to know that funding and professional help is available to support new ideas for community enterprises that will benefit your community.
The West Lindsey Community Assets Fund (CAF) is available to help communities develop and own facilities or services to benefit their area by offering funding, specialist support and inspiring events. Two leading organisations in community and social enterprise, The Plunkett Foundation and CAN (Community Action Network), are working together and in partnership with local community groups to provide the necessary expertise to foster a spirit of entrepreneurialism and empower communities to help themselves.
The CAF has an initial lifetime of 3 years and aims to support 30 investments over 3 years with a mixture of grant and loans.
Community Lincs is providing publicity and marketing support and will participate on the Investment Panel alongside representatives from The Plunkett Foundation, CAN and West Lindsey District Council. During the next two and a half years, CAF Community Enterprise Surgeries will take place at various locations throughout West Lindsey with ‘expert’ presentations and bespoke advice and guidance for groups and individuals. The first surgery in Scotter at the end of July 2012 proved to be very popular and successful. 60 people attended and 17 project ideas from communities across West Lindsey were brought forward for consideration and action plans agreed with advisers.
Enterprise ideas could include shops, village halls, pubs, community transport, community infrastructure or other services. Final applications must show how the idea could be sustainable (not dependent on grant) and show clear evidence of community engagement or consultation. Enterprises need to be community-owned or ‘asset-locked’ to be eligible.
If you have a great idea for your community which must be within the West Lindsey boundary and want to:
Find out how to turn it into reality, and
Be inspired by other community enterprises
………….. take advantage of the expert advice and hands-on business support available from community enterprise specialists. They can help you ………………
Engage with your local community to help develop ideas
Learn from other community enterprises
Develop a business plan
Understand more about funding options.
Surgery sessions will take place at various locations in West Lindsey during 2012 and 2013.
