Windsor Locks Town Hall – Conference Room 103

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Frawley 7:01 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Members present were Chairman Richard Frawley, Kasan Patel, Roger Nelson, William Howes and Bruce Robtoy.
MINUTES: A motion was made by Mr. Robtoy to approve the minutes of the May 28, 2013, seconded by Mr. Patel and approved.
CORRESPONDENCE:

Finance Dept. – Budget Report dated 07/10/13 has a balance of $2,924.00.

C.A.C.I.W.C – The Habitat for Spring 2013. Copy passed to each member present.

North Central Conservation District – Bill for $1,100 required to pay.

CT DEEP – Application for site review for removal of sediment from stormwater retention swale at AASF at Bradley.

CT DEEP – CT Wildlife magazine for May/June 2013. Mr. Fournier borrowed.

CT River Watershed Council – Letter of thanks for support. Invitation from July 21st for a canoe trip. Currents & Eddies magazine for Spring 2013.

Arbor Day Foundation – Thank-you for membership dues. The Tree Book catalog. Arbor Day magazine for July/Aug 2013.

C.A.C.I.W.C – Notice for Membership dues. $110 split with IWC. A motion was made to pay $55 from Acct # 146-321 by Mr. Patel, Seconded by Mr. Nelson and approved. The Annual Meeting will be held Nov. 16th. Commissioners will let secretary know if they wish to attend.

OLD BUSINESS:

Many trees are down from the tornado at WWBCA. Chairman did not receive a bill from the portable toilet, assuming company cannot get access. CT Water Company will remove trees from trail at their convenience. Have not heard from Sam Williams, the Boy Scout, who is building the map board for the trail.

Chairman brought in an article from Hartford Courant about Emerald Ash Borer found in trees in Southington. Stated about 10% of trees in CT are Ash.

Mr. Fournier updated the Commission on Heritage Week. He would like help from the Commission again for CT Trails Day Weekend. He thanked Mr. Patel for the brochure he provided. He now has a key to the gate, which had some vandalism he repaired. He would like to do another tour/walk in the Fall of the south end of the canal.

The 17th Annual CT River Source to Sea Cleanup is scheduled for October 5th. Assignments were passed out same as last year.

NEW BUSINESS:

Secretary had an inquiry about trails at Spring Park to the Fish Hatchery.
