The Demon Kids
By Lacey Herrin, Brianna Kim, and Brittni Menard
Martin was later for school, running and skidding to a stop at the end of the street; he slid and fell landing on his left arm weird. Hearing a crack, he yelped, realizing the pain in his arm. He sat their waiting. When he stood up he heard a yell and this time it wasn't him. It was a girl running towards him. That's how he met his one and only friend. Leah.
(Weeks Later) ......
Leah was on the phone standing right in front of Martin in her living room. She looked and felt bewildered. Once she got off, she explained that her grandfather could soon die and had to be at the hospital pronto. But she had no one to watch her younger siblings. Martin volunteered even though he was terrified of watching little people for who knows how long. But he did it anyway, trying not to show his fear.
Once she left, he sat down with the kids and got to know them better. Peter, a 7 year old boy, sat there playing with his solar system model but never really looked you in the eye. Jessica, a 5 year old girl, was just staring at him smiling; she thought he looked like a twig but smaller. Brandi, a 9 year old girl, was sitting in the corner reading “100 Ways to Prank A Person". But Martin didn't even notice, he was trying to calm himself.
Jessica popped up and went over to where Martin was standing.
"Can we eat now?” Jessica said while interrupting his train of thought.
Startled, he walked into the kitchen.
“What do you guys want?” he said while looking in the refrigerator.
All the kids yelled "Hot dogs!"in unison.
Little did he know that Brandi was looking in her book for food pranks.
Martin got the food for them. As he was making the food, Brandi sneaked behind him and got the hot sauce and the month old relish.
“I got the ketchup and relish out!" Brandi announced.
With Martin's back still turned, Brandi put the hot sauce and relish on his hot dog.
“I made your hot dog for you!"
“Uh, thanks", Martin replied.
He bit into his food. Feeling a burning sensation in his mouth, he headed to his drink. Looking around, he saw the kids holding their stomachs' laughing.
The kids stopped laughing and Martin knew that this was going to be harder than he expected.
After the food incident, the kids wanted to play hide n' seek.
“you should be it Martin" Jessica said.
“Okay I will. You go hide and I'll count to 30"
“no peeking", Brandi said, as she went to hide.
He found Jessica behind the curtain and Peter behind the couch. But he couldn't find Brandi.
The kids stayed in the living room as he searched for Brandi. As he walked down the hallway, he heard banging on the closet door. The banging suddenly stopped and heard a faint whisper saying, “You’ll have a choice to choose."
Martin was scared out of his mind. He didn't know what that meant and he jumped when he heard the banging start again. He reached for the doorknob as his hand shook and opened it.
Standing there was Brandi happily smiling.
"You finally found me!” she said.
Martin was still looking at her. He could've sworn that for a second, her eyes were dark black when she blinked.
The kids watched TV and played with their toys. He just sat there thinking about the voice, her eyes, and the eerie vibe he feels. He decided to go and put cold water on his face. When he dried his face off, he looked into the mirror. He saw all three kids standing right next to each other. Their eyes suddenly turned black and lifeless. Suddenly, they stared whispering venomously "Choices, death, red, black", over and over again. He did what he was mostly good at he ran for his life. He stopped at the end of the hallway. Looking back he still heard the deadly whispers. He looked forward again looking at the double doors. Opening them quickly, he tripped, falling 7 flights of stairs. When he stopped he felt no more fear or pain all he felt was numb.
He saw a bright white light, a figure stood there. He walked towards the womanly shadow.
He saw his mother, but she was dead. Am I dead? He thought.
“M-m-mom", he spat out.
“Listen baby, you are not completely dead yet. If you still can to live you have to want it and show them you aren't ready. But if you want to come with me you have to make sure that you are okay with hurting the loved ones around you", she said softly.
"I- I - have to choose? I-I get to.” he stuttered.
"Yes, now choose we don't have a lot of time"
"Okay, I choose to......
