Quality Inspector & Assembler

The Quality Inspector and Assembleris responsible for performing visual and functional inspections of parts that come from the injection molding and assembly machines. This person also hand assembles molded parts. This Associate must follow all procedures and work instructions, achieve optimal productivity, and follow quality and safety protocol.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assemble valve internals according to Level 2 work instructions quickly and correctly.
  • Package products with proper labeling and packaging.
  • Ensure FIFO procedures are followed.
  • Perform visual and functional inspections of molded parts and verify conformance of components, assemblies, sub-assemblies and finished product to specifications to meet established quality criteria of zero non-conformance.
  • Perform inspections only on products for which they have been properly trained and qualified.
  • Use measuring devices and gauges to determine quality level of molded parts.
  • Routinely communicate and share knowledge with team members to produce high quality parts in a timely manner.
  • Read job order to determine product specifications.
  • Follow operation instructions and assembly bill of materials.
  • Maintain machine adjustment logs, accurate records and documentation for quality control.
  • Escalate production and quality issues/concerns to Supervisor during production, following escalation policy.
  • Communicate with maintenance on machine performance issues, submit work requests for corrective maintenance.
  • Perform rework or secondary operations as designated and pack parts according to written instructions.
  • Finish products utilizing assembly machine once trained.
  • Operate industrial equipment such as pallet jacks. Use forklift only if certification / training is completed.
  • Collect and record production data for utilization by Quality Control Inspection personnel.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in training new operators.
  • Support initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping and quality standards are maintained.
  • Proactively participate in training, development and safety events focusing on improving processes.
  • Empty trash cans in production area and discard of cardboard as needed. Keep work area clean.
  • Some heavy lifting required.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Zero to six months related production assembly, quality assurance, quality control or laboratory testing preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail is imperative.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracy.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a reliable, responsible team player focused on producing a quality product.
  • Must have knowledge of how to operate a computer.
  • Successful completion of a post offer physical, drug screen and background check
  • Read, write and understand the English language.

Work Environment:

The work environment is generally noisy and the employee regularly works around dust, oil, electrical devices and mechanically moving parts. Safety glasses are required while on the plant floor. While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.The warehouse is not temperature controlled. Must be comfortable working in a high-speed production environment.

Supervision:

TheQuality Inspector and Assemblerwill be under the direct supervision of the Vice President. Requests for time off, calling in sick and any other concerns will be directed to the Vice President.

Hours:

This position is Non-exempt. Full-time; forty (40) hours of work are required per week.

Must be available to work holidays and weekends when requested from Supervisor.

1st, 2nd or 3rd shift may be required. May involve 8 or 12 hour shifts.

Payscale:

$12.00-$19.00
