COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is the foundational course for the Web & Digital Design Pathway. In this course students will understand, communicate and adapt to a digital world as it impacts their personal life, society, and the business world. Through hands-on activities and project-focused tasks, students will be exposed to foundational knowledge of hardware, software, programming, web design, IT support and networking, emerging technology, professional communication and problem-solving, ethics and presentation skills. Employability skills are integrated throughout the course standards as required by business and industry. Competencies in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) are integrated into the content standards of this course. The knowledge and skills taught in this course build upon each other to form a comprehensive introduction to the digital world.

MATERIALS REQUIRED DAILY:

·  Pen (Black or blue ink), and/or pencil

·  3 ring binder (1 ½”-2”)

·  (Optional) Flash Drive 4 GB minimum

DAILY PROCEDURE:

·  Be seated before tardy bell.

·  Log in to your Google account and to Google Classroom while attendance is being taken.

·  Stay in assigned seat unless moved by the teacher.

·  Stay seated until dismissed by the teacher at the end of class.

·  Leave your work area clean and push the chair under your table.

Formative Assessments – daily work, projects, graphic organizers, handouts, quizzes, textbook and lab assignments, article summaries, and work ethics. (Any formal or informal assessment that is part of the process of learning new material or practicing and refining a skill.)

Summative Assessments – A formal assessment used at the end of an assignment, unit, project, or the course. (EX: unit tests, final exams, projects, reports, etc.)

WORK ETHIC/ATTITUDE/ATTENDANCE:

Maintain punctuality, positive attitude, and an orderly work area. Please put away materials neatly, and push chairs up to desks before leaving class. Discussion is critical, so class participation is expected. Certain topics to be covered in relationship to developing the kind of work ethic that is critical for success in school and everyday life include: Attendance, Character, Teamwork, Appearance, Attitude, Productivity, Organization, Communication, and Respect.

Students are expected to attend class daily. If attendance is impossible, work must be made up within three days upon returning to school or the student will receive zeros for work missed. It is the student’s responsibility for making arrangements with the instructor for make-up work. Students will log in to Google Classroom daily for assignments which are listed under your designated course section.
