CHEATING & PLAGIARISM:The working definition of "cheat" and "plagiarism" for the

purposes of this class can be found in Webster's Ninth

Edition New Collegiate Dictionary.

CHEATING on tests in my classes will not be tolerated. Anyone caught cheating will receive a zero (0) on his/her test and that grade will be averaged into the final grade. The zero will always be averaged in and cannot count as a low grade in cases where students are allowed the leeway to discard the lowest test score.

PLAGIARISM is copying another individuals work either verbatim without using quotation marks and giving credit in a footnote, or using the idea of another individual without giving credit, (unless the information is general information) even if a few words have been changed or rearranged. Plagiarism is in effect the theft of another writer's property. A paper containing any plagiarized portions will receive a zero (0) and there will be NO provisions for make-up work.
