FWA OCTOBER 2016 Report

The section below summarizes the work done during the month of October 2016.

ACTIVITIES

During the month of October 2016, the activities done were about READY, IWRH, RSS, AGBV and CHIVPP projects.

Burundian Alliance Against Aids, ABS

As part of the READY project, different services were offered in the following logic:

9 teenagers from the target group, including 4 female and 5 male, underwent voluntary testing and received information about HIV/AIDS through pre and post-test counseling. We had three young female people from the target group (age between 10 and 19 years) for family planning and related information, and 304 teenagers were given condoms.

Improving Women Reproductive health (IWRH)

Both the annual financial and narrative reports were produced for IWRH second year.

Rape Survivors’ Support (RSS)

Both the annual financial and narrative reports were prepared for RSS third year. The pilot self-help group is still meeting at FWA every Friday at 3:00PM.

Action on Gender-Based Violence (AGBV)

A three-day GBV workshop was done in Maramvya (Bujumbura province) October 27-29, 2016.

Caring for HIV Positive People (CHIVPP)

During this month of October 2016, medical follow up, home visits, and nutritional support were done for our HIV positive people. Two discussion groups were done on October 21-22, 2016.

CONSULTATIONS

Seven cases were consulted by our doctor. The nurse received 101 patients including 64 adults and 37 children.

In the month of October 2016, apart from voluntary testing, there were a total of 92 tests.

FAMILY PLANNING

151 women received contraceptives from FWA’s nurse. 133 received the contraceptive injection and 18 were given pills.

PRE-NATAL CONSULTATION

Five women came for the pre-natal consultation.

ARV SITE

At the end of October 2016, we had 97 patients under retro drugs followed at NTASEKA clinic, including 82 women and 15 men. We had also other 66 people under cotrimoxazole only. This means that we have a total of 163 people infected with HIV followed at NTASEKA clinic.

PHARMACY

FWA had all necessary medicines for the month of October 2016.

PSYCHOSOCIAL TEAM

In the month of October 2016, 72 people received pre and post HIV test counseling and were tested for HIV; 56% of them were women and among the 7 people detected HIV positive, 5 of them were women with 13% of seropositivity.
