The Burnsville Women of Today is a dynamic and diverse women’s organization interested in the betterment of our community. Our mission is to help women improve their lives and the lives of the people in the communities around them through service, personal growth and friendship.

 

Eligibility for the Burnsville Women of Today $500 Service Scholarship is as follows:

A high school senior that is on track for graduation by June 2018 with a B or higher academic average
Attends one of the following schools: Burnsville High School, Apple Valley High School, Eagan High School, Lakeville North High School or Lakeville South High School OR they or their parent is a member of Burnsville Women of Today
Post-secondary educational plans (proof of registration will be required for funds disbursement)
A demonstrated commitment to community service (above and beyond any academic/religious requirements) with an understanding of the benefits of volunteerism

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated by submitting the following four items:

This application with contact information completed.
Essay of up to 1 typed page regarding your community volunteer efforts. Include the specific type of activity that you are involved in and how this improved your life and the lives of those in your community for now and in the future. Essay from winning applicant may be published by the chapter.
Letter of recommendation from your community service supervisor or someone with first-hand knowledge of your efforts. Recommendations must include:
Name, address, and phone number of person writing the recommendation
Length of time they have known the student and their relationship to the student
Reasons they believe this student deserves recognition
Letter of verification from applicant’s school that student is on target for graduation by June 2018and has a B or higher academic average.

All materials must be postmarked by Monday, March 12, 2018 for consideration.

Following selection of the scholarship recipient in April 2018, Burnsville Women of Today will notify all applicants by email and invite the recipient to an award presentation.
