CRITERIA FOR CAMP SCHOLARSHIP

The following criteria should be considered in order to nominate students in grades one through eight for a week at Camp Ockanickon/Matollionequay:

  1. The counselor and the teacher should make the initial recommendation with a brief description of the candidate. Please submit only one student per BCSCA member for consideration.
  2. The family situation should be one of need.
  3. There should be a statement from the student as to why he/she wishes to attend camp. This could include hobbies and interests.
  4. The counselor and the teacher should consider the independence and the ability of the student to be away from home for a week.
  5. The child needs to be well behaved and not a school discipline problem.

Please make sure that you have made the parent(s) aware of this opportunity prior to submitting this application. The parent(s) must be willing to complete all of the necessary paperwork and to provide up-to-date medical information from the child’s doctor. The parent(s) may send the registration packet back to the YMCA camp directly; however, you may want to have them give the entire packet to you to mail back so that you may check that everything has been completed. Unless your district makes other arrangements, the parent(s) are responsible for providing transportation to and from the camp.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are faxing the information, make sure that everything is typed or written in pen on white paper only.
