PRESS RELEASE / 15 October 2013

Sustainability from decentralised and renewable energy generation:

Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) for Schüco window and façade systems

With its BIPV modules for Schüco window and façade systems, the company offers numerous options for combining modern solar energy use with individual architecture in an attractive way. The crystalline modules with individual module construction can be integrated in Schüco ventilated, ventilated/non-ventilated or non-ventilated façades, as well as in windows, skylight constructions, solar shading solutions and canopies. All modules are IEC-certified and have general building authority approval as laminated safety glass from the DIBt (German Institute of Civil Engineering).

The BIPV modules are individually fitted with polycrystalline or monocrystalline cells. This enables the module dimensions to be freely divided up, providing creative design options in terms of shape, colour, degree of transparency and visual structure. The appearance of the cells is significantly more uniform than in the past, as the crystal boundaries can no longer be seen with the naked eye due to the anti-reflective layers which have been further developed.

BIPV modules are suitable for use in newbuilds and energy-efficient renovation projects. In conjunction with the tried-and-tested Schüco window and façade systems, as well as inverters, a flexible complete system for the building envelope is created. Depending on their construction, the modules can perform other functions of the building envelopein addition to generating energy, such as thermal insulation, weather protection and sound reduction.
