Buck, Chachere Show Winning Junior National Hereford Expo Bulls
KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Bailey Buck, Madill, Okla., exhibited the grand champion bred-and-owned bull and Jonathan Chachere, Dayton, Texas, showed the reserve champion at the 14th annual VitaFerm® Junior National Hereford Expo in Kansas City, Mo., July 19. The bred-and-owned bull show was sponsored by Gallagher, Riverside, Mo.
Judge Jeff Gooden, Iberia, Mo., sorted 88 bulls to name the champions and said there was great quality presented top to bottom. He added, “The bull that won the show was truly outstanding.”
Buck’s outstanding bull that won grand and division II was BK Zeus 12Z, a September 2012 son of CRR About Time 743 that showed with expected progeny differences (EPDs) of birth weight (BW) 2.4, weaning weight (WW) 56, yearling weight (YW) 88, milk (MM) 27 and milk & growth (M&G) 55.
Chac Mason 2214 was reserve champion in division IV and reserve overall with Chachere at the halter. He is a February 2012 son of CRR About Time 743 and showed with EPDs of BW 3.6, WW 51, YW 78, MM 25 and M&G 51.
In the junior AI bull division, Mariah Behrends, San Jose, Ill., claimed the champion title with WRB Leo 2912 by CJH Harland 408. The reserve champion banner went to Parker Cantrell, Collinsville, Okla., with C3 PKC Snakebit M326 213Z by KCF Bennett 3008 M326. This division is for bulls that are a result of participating in the NJHA Junior AI program that allows youth to receive free semen and certificates.
