BU-HHMI UNDERGRADUATE SOCIAL NETWORK ANALYSIS SURVEY
The goal of the BU-HHMI program is to encourage and enable undergraduate students like you to seek life science-related research-based careers in the STEM disciplines; and to prepare graduate students to be faculty research mentors. To prepare for future research that will be even more interdisciplinary than it is today, our program is focused on the interdisciplinary research experience across STEM disciplines. Social science research has shown that interactions among research participants are key to successful interdisciplinary research. Our grant, therefore, includes a social network analysis component. We will be determining whether certain patterns of social interaction correlate with what the program considers to be positive outcomes: BU-HHMI undergraduates being successful in their research (in the view of your mentors) and a good percentage of the group selecting research-based STEM careers.
