Eligibility of Applicants

The competition is open to Dan Grades – Age 14 and above (born 1998 or before)

BTCB Insurance & Membership

All competitors must have a valid BTCB licence and insurance, numbers will be checked with Membership Services. All competitors should check that their insurance is valid and ensure that January renewals are mailed to Membership Services with enough time to be processed and returned back before the competition closing date.

Competition

The Freestyle Championships will take place during the lunch-break of the National Kup Championships – competitors are advised to arrive before 10am to hand in and test their music CD. Announcements will be made half an hour before the start of the competition.

Participants (or parents/guardians) must complete the attached entry form and sign the waiver.

2012 BTCB National Freestyle Poomsae Championships – Dan Grades

Categories

There are four categories:

Individual Male

Individual Female

Mixed Pair

Mixed Team (Male & Female 3 & 2 or 2 & 3)

Rules, Format, Scoring

·  Music & Choreography is the choice of the competitor.

·  The participant must supply their own music on a CD – with their name clearly labelled – this should be handed in to the organiser before 10am so that the Music can be tested – before the start of the Kup Championships.

·  The Freestyle poomsae must be between 60-70 seconds.

·  The poomsae must consist of 20-24 poom (moves or linked combination moves).

·  The poomsae must be 60% foot techniques and 40% hand techniques.

·  The competitor must show thought in the lines of the poomsae and start & finish in the same place.

·  Acrobatic actions are allowed but the poomsae must be Taekwondo Style with higher points awarded for more difficult, high, jumping, spinning, and consecutive kicks. (With an accurate landing position).

·  The poomsae must show accuracy in all movements and thought and practicality (defensive & attacking moves).

·  Pairs & Teams do not have to be synchronised for the entire poomsae – but do have to show unity and organisation.

·  Scoring will be 60% Technical Skills & 40% Presentation

·  In the interests of safety – please ensure that you are competent to perform all the technical and acrobatic elements in your poomsae.

Awards

1st, 2nd , 3rd & 4th Place awards shall be given for each category. Club awards will not be given in this category.

Protests

Any protests must be made by the club coach within 10 minutes of the end of the contest to the Head Judging Coordinator: Grandmaster TW Shin. The protest fee is £75 (refunded if protest is won).

·  Organisers have the right to make any necessary changes to the above information.

·  All competitors participate at their own risk.

·  Neither the organisers nor the BTCB shall not accept responsibility for any damages, injuries or losses sustained or incurred.

It is the instructor’s responsibility to ensure all students’ licences are renewed in time to be checked by the competition organisers two weeks before the competition date. No licence - no competition - no acceptations.

No late entries will be accepted.


BRITISH TAEKWONDO CONTROL BOARD

PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEO RECORDING

REGISTRATION FORM

In the interest of Child Protection the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) requires that any person wishing to engage in photography or videoing at any event must register their intent with the Event Organiser.

Two sections of the form require completion. Section 1 must be completed by ALL applicants. If the applicant is a parent/guardian/relative of a student competing then section 2 must also be completed, section 3 if it is an instructor/coach/representative of a BTCB club and section 4 is for all other representatives/officials.

This form will be retained by the Event Organiser for inspection by a BTCB Official when necessary.

·  NO video filming, photography or mobile phones are to be used in any changing rooms AT ANY TIME.
