SECTOR-44A, CHANDIGARH CELEBRATED INDEPENDENCE DAY

BSNL Employees Welfare & Recreation Club celebrated the 67th Independence Day in Sector 44 BSNL staff colony grounds. Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Municipal Councillor and Ex Mayor, unfurled the National Flag followed by National Anthem by the children. Shri Moti Lal Sharma, Secretary of the Club welcomed Mrs. Harjinder Kaur and other guests

Mrs. Harjinder Kaur conveyed her Independence Day greetings and congratulated the organizers for arranging a function to celebrate the day. She urged upon the audience to remember the martyrs who laid their lives during the freedom struggle. She also appealed for communal harmony, national unity and integrity. She announced setting up of Badminton and Volleyball Courts in the colony park.

Sports competitions were organized for children, boys and girls in all age groups. Matki race and Musical Chairs competition was organized for women. The volleyball, football and badminton games were held the previous day. The TUG of WAR and SHOT PUT was held for boys and men separately. Though it was raining heavily throughout the programme but the participants were so enthusiastic that all the games were completed in time and with full participation of the competitors. Patriotic songs were sung by the children of all age groups.

The prize distribution programme was held after the competitions. Shri R. L. Moudgil, All India Assistant General Secretary, BSNL Employees Union gave away the prizes to the winners. Shri Moudgil, congratulated the gathering and conveyed greetings on the Independence Day. He appreciated the organizers for celebrating the pious day with fervour and enthusiasm. He was all praise for the children and youth who participated in the games despite rains. He appealed to all present to dedicate themselves for the unity and integrity of the nation and work for its development.

Shri Kewal Krishan Bhardwaj, President of the club presided over the function. Shri Balbir Singh, Sh. Brij Bhushan, Shri Partap Singh and Sh. Jagdish Singh acted as referees. Shri Moti Lal Sharma, Secretary of the Club thanked all the participants, their parents and other guests for making the Independence Day celebration programme a grand success.
