Redmond Youth Football
Mission and Values

The mission of Redmond Youth Football is to provide a safe, fun learning environment for the youth of our community while developing the basic fundamentals for the game of football.

Thank you for joining Redmond Youth Football. We routinely have over 230 players registered each year. This will be RYF’s 11th season. We take direction from both high schools and have tremendous support of RHS Coach Nathan Stanley and RVHS Coach Andy Codding. Our league is simply not possible without our volunteer coach’s, our parents, our referees and our kids. We need everyone’s help to be successful. We would like you to please review the following values and code of conduct.

Values and Rules

We want to create a motivational opportunity and environment for our youth to gain an understanding of teamwork, dedication, fair play and the rules of football. This program focuses on sportsmanship, dedication, teamwork and respect for authority figures (Directors, Coaches, Game Officials and Parents). We want to teach our youth necessary life skills which will help their development both on and off the field.

Redmond Youth Football has a zero tolerance regarding verbal or physical abuse of its volunteer coaches, referees, or players from any parent, player, or spectator. Below you will find several specific rules which need to be followed. These rules have been chosen in order to allow for a safe environment, equal player opportunity, developmental techniques, family time management/participation and the overall development of our youth.

Redmond Youth Football program focuses on the youth learning both offense and defense and not a specific position or two where they might excel over other less skilled youth. This might reflect that you may have a skilled ball carrier playing on the offensive line. This philosophy is designed to teach and develop all of our kids the game of football without the focus on winning. WE ALL WIN if the kids we coach, encourage, develop and help, become more knowledgeable of the game of football under our leadership. If there are concerns about safety in regards to specific kids in specialty positions this may be addressed at the discretion of the head coach.

1.  No Coach shall demonstrate or engage in unsportsmanlike conduct: including, but not limited to the following:

a.  Abusive or profane language, actions, or conduct.

b.  Fighting or engaging in assault by hitting, pushing or shoving;

c.  Conduct or actions which may be immoral or illegal.

d.  Running trick plays or purposely running up the score.

e.  Holding additional unauthorized practices.

2.  Rotate ALL Players through several positions throughout the season. We understand not each person will be able to play every position. The idea is to learn the game not the position.

3.  Use only the plays allowed in the playbook provided at the beginning of the season.

4.  3rd and 4th graders may practice no more than two times per week for 1 hour and 15 minutes each practice. 5th and 6th grade teams may practice no more than three times per week for 1 hour and 30 minutes each practice.

5.  No alcohol use prior to or during any Redmond Youth Football event.

6.  Complete a background sheet and bring it to the 1st Coaches meeting.

Coaches Code of Conduct

As a Coach I understand that I set the example for my players, parents/guardians, and spectators. I have reviewed the above Philosophies and rules and agree to abide by them.

I will place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.

I will ensure that each player is correctly dressed with the necessary safety equipment (helmet, mouthpiece, pads, etc.) before being allowed to play.

I will get treatment for an injured player immediately.

I will not physically or mentally push children beyond their abilities.

I know this game is of minor consideration when compared to the child's future health and well-being.

I understand the goal of a coach is to teach fundamentals, sportsmanship and the rules of the game.

I agree that the score of the game is insignificant compared to the development of ALL players. I understand the good or bad experience a youth has this year in football will have more to do with each of us as their adult role models than winning or losing.

I will remember that referees are volunteers and that there will be questionable calls. I will work with Redmond Youth Football, the referees and the opposing coaches to insure safe and fair play during each game.

I will remember we are youth sports coaches, and that the game is for the kids and not adults.

Any violations will be reviewed by the Redmond Youth Football Directors. Appropriate action will be taken. Such action may include a warning, ejection of the Coach from the game or dismissal from the league.

I have reviewed the above values and rules and agree to follow them.
