Our World Service, Sports News, Radio Sport and Interactive teams help make sure that every day, throughout the year,our audiences are served with all the stories surrounding every sport as well as providing world-class coverage of the events themselves.
Scope of role / To produce digital sports news content for the BBC Sport website and social media accounts, either in the office, studio or, occasionally, on location.
A key part of this role is digital video. We’re looking for someone who clearly understands how to produce high-impact video on social media by maximising the best story-telling techniques while maintaining BBC’s position as a trusted and authoritative news source.
The BA will also need to plan ahead, looking at what sports news stories need to be covered on social media. There will be three main areas of focus for the content you produce: maximising BBC Sport exclusive material, producing edits from sourced footage and re-versioning other BBC Sport content for digital video.
As part of the role, the BA will also produce digital video edits for the BBC Sport website as required.
They will work closely with the department’s leadership team, providing general production and administrative support where necessary.
And – as with all of our BAs – they will be expected to assist other parts of BBC Sport, and, as required, may be asked to spend time working withother radio, TV and online teams.
Skills, knowledge and experience /
  • Good knowledge of BBC Sports News output.
  • Experience of producing high-impact social media video.
  • Good working knowledge or informed interest in a wide range of sports and sports news stories that have a broad appeal to a global audience
  • Proficient in sourcing material social media for potential sports news stories.
  • Able to use digital recording and editing equipment/software
  • Awareness of how to use social media to attract audiences to BBC programmes and content within BBC Guidelines
  • Up to date with production technology and techniques (including IT)
  • Familiar with Health Safety guidelines, procedures and responsibilities
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Creative and realistic editorial input and judgement.
  • A professional journalism qualification (eg NCTJ course, degree or post-graduate diploma).
