VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION

VOLUNTEER TITLE: Regional Foundation Programme Support Volunteer – (Discipline)

British Dressage, British Eventing and British Show Jumping will each recruit one volunteer in each of the five England Regions as defined in the map below:

MAJOR OBJECTIVE OF PROGRAMME: To identify, support and develop riders and horses demonstrating talent & potential in the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines and increase and sustain participation and support the development of regional talent within safe and structured environments.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES: To offer support to the Regional Foundation Programme that delivers training opportunities to talented riders between the ages of 16 – 24 years of age within your Region.

·  Supporting the Regional Squad Co-ordinator to deliver effective training sessions

·  Assisting where required with the setting up and clearing of training areas

·  To build a rapport with young people and their support networks

TRAINING: To participate in support/information meetings and attend relevant training courses/workshops

TIME COMMITMENT: Minimum of 12 months to start is September 2010.

HOURS/DAYS/LOCATION: (hrs) Minimum of 09.00 – 17.30 (variable by region)

Days: Normally 6 days per year to include weekdays to meet training needs of riders

Location (address): At training centres within your region.

SUPERVISION: Direct supervision will be given by the Regional Foundation Co-ordinator.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. It will be necessary for a Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau for details of any previous criminal convictions

Experience/Skills/Personal Characteristics:

·  An interest in Equestrian Sport

·  Past or current experience in a volunteer role within your chosen discipline.

·  Good communication skills – both written and verbal.

·  Good organisational skills

·  Honest and trustworthy

·  Good interpersonal skills.
