This list of requirements characterized all the Brisbane children’s experiences in high school and therefore are the requirements of the recipient. Wayne, Frances, Niels and Louisa had the opportunity to test their “leadership wings” at Lynden Christian in their area of interests, be it academics, sports, church related, extracurricular or the arts. The skills, talents, knowledge and heart they developed in high school has translated into their area of interest and influence as adults.

High school tends to be emotionally challenging no matter where a student is living. We do not know a lot of kids that loved their high school experience but LC helped the Brisbane children meet many challenges and blossom through the process. Despite normal teenage difficulties, each of them positively influenced their peer group. There are many wonderful stories that cause a mother’s heart to swell, but more importantly we want to give a student with a similar heart and values a monetary and verbal encouragement.

This scholarship gift is to honor the success these 4 individuals had in high school as well as grow our vision for how we will continue to bless and support young Christian leaders that reflect the values of generosity, independence, excellence, hospitality, and creativity. We desire to financially support a student who is unafraid to step out of their comfort zone and challenge their peers to live bigger and bolder, as often happened with the Brisbane children.

The Brisbane Scholarship is in the amount of $12,000, with an initial award of $3,000 the first year which can be renewed for three additional years if a 2.75 GPA is maintained in college.
