Sprayberry’s Echo Pageant Information

Thank you for your interest in competing for the title of Miss & Mr. ECHO! This prestigious pageant is produced by our SHS Drama Department, Mr. Marc Middlebrooks, Drama Director, and serves as Pageant Produce. The pageant is also made possible by the generous contributions of Sprayberry’s PTSA.

Pageant fee- pays for your T-shirt for opening number, the crown and other awards, and the remainder goes towards the scholarships! Last year’s winners won scholarships that totaled $1,000.

Pageant winners are chosen by receiving the highest scores from professional judges via three sets of criteria:

40% of Score: Interview- Personality/Presence (as evidenced in a private, five to ten-minute interview with the three judges as well as an impromptu response to a final on-stage question, if chosen as one of the five finalists.)

60% of Score: Causal and Formal Wear- Poise (30% each modeling of Causal Wear and 30% modeling Formal Wear.)

Academic Excellence, as indicated by the participant’s overall GPA, will also be considered by the judges.

The WinnersWill Receive:

  • A College Scholarship ( Amount to be determined)
  • A gift package, including a Tiara/trophy/sash for the girl
  • Medallion, trophy, king’s hat for the boy
  • Coverage in the school and local newspaper/SHS annual

Other Awards:

1st Runner-up- Trophy and scholarship (Awarded by the PTSA)

2nd Runner-up- Trophy and scholarship (Awarded by the PTSA)

Miss Congeniality*

Most Poise- female

Most Dapper- male

Best Dress- female

Outstanding Medallion Award – one student from each grade with the highest casual and formal points

Top Scholars** – One person from each grade level with the highest GPA will receive a certificate

FINAL 10 or 5 Girls (depending on number of contestants)

All above awards are given by the judges except: * Miss Congeniality (awarded by contestants) and ** Top Scholars (awarded based on students GPA).

Contestants will need the following outfits for the pageant:

Opening Number- Echo Pageant T-shirt (will be provided), black slacks, and black shoes

Interview- Business interview attire

Casual Wear- Elegant Up-casual attire that displays your sense of style and maturity (no jeans)

Formal Wear- Evening gown for girls and tux/suit for guys

There will be a meeting a month before the pageant with our pageant coach, Kim Vaughn, that will include a dress preview. She will bring in examples of dresses that are appropriate. She will also answer any questions you have about dress, accessories, or shoes.
