Botanical Soap & the EPA

Cleaner plants are healthier. Healthier plants are more resistant to disease. The EPA has no interestin non-toxic botanical soaps that wash away dust, dirt, oil, pesticides, insecticides, insect stains, etc., as long as no insecticidal or pesticidal claims are made.

Benefits Reported by Growers

Growers report:

  • Stimulates healthier, faster “starter plant” growth up to 400%. Enhances plant root growth and nourishment.
  • Stronger plants, blooms and fruit are more resistant to wind damage.
  • Has increased harvest yields of 100% to 300%.
  • A small (10 acre) owner reports annual savings up to $5,000 by saving weakened plants
  • Replaces dangerous degreasers, toxic detergents, cleaners and solvents.
  • Works as a “Spreader.” Reduces chemical costs up to 95%.
  • Presents no known health hazards to customers or employees.
  • Unlike toxic chemicals, non-toxic soap requires no facility “close-down” while applying.
  • Eliminates concerns of toxic chemical drift onto neighbors
  • Eliminates concern of chemically contaminated water supply. No hazardous waste disposal requirements.
  • No concern over issues associated with toxic chemicals.
  • No inadvertent violation of “toxic chemical label laws,” thus no concern about EPA and OSHA fines.
  • No regulatory records requirements. No warnings signs needed to protect customers or workers when spraying.
  • No workmen’s compensation claims or lawsuits from customers or workers claiming toxic exposure.
  • After receiving a waiver for reducing toxins, enjoy reduced workers compensation costs.
  • No additional labor costs for associated spraying and handling.
  • No liability for chemically polluted land ---no toxic chemical soil remediation required.
  • Self-cleans applicators while spraying and reduce equipment maintenance costs.
  • Soap can be resold to customers and other growers for additional income.
  • Provides peace of mind about crop success and hazard-free operations.
  • No special handling or equipment required. No special storage area required.

Freeze & Frostbite Protection

Mr. Jim Little, California credits 1st EnviroSafety’s Bio-Wash 1227 with protecting his 4,400+ tree orange harvest during the freeze (27 F.) that destroyed 70% of the California citrus crop. Jim had soaked his trees approximately one week before the freeze. His neighbor did not use the soap and lost his harvest. (Photos available)

Joseph Powell, Powell’s Nursery, drenches his ornamentals whenever a freeze is predicted. He reports no damage to thoroughly sprayed plants and flowers. Mike Vaughan, Miami, and other growers, keep a sufficient supply on hand to soak his plants whenever a freeze is predicted.

Why does it work? Numerous growers have reported healthier, hardier, disease-resistant plants after washing with Bio-Wash 1227. Additionally, Ellis Fleming, chemist, credits the apparent protection to increased plant metabolism following spraying.

Does 1st EnviroSafety Inc. guaranteeagainst freeze damage?

No. 1st EnviroSafety believes and reports the experiences related by growers. It suggests soaking plants in addition to other freeze protection methods but assumes no liability for crop damage.
